What would you expect to be left by vendors?

If I was going to take the curtain poles, I would buy some cheap ones to put up in their place. I would never take toilet roll holders/ towel rails. I have moved into a house before now where they had taken the wall lights - this really annoyed me - I would never do that!Don't Panic - and carry a towel

Toilet roll holder?
You want to take your toilet roll holder? It must be mighty fine.

We are moving in 2 weeks and will be leaving all blinds as they fit the windows so it seems pointless to take them. The blinds in our living room are wooden venetian blinds that were custom made to fit a large bay window - they cost over £600 but I wouldn't ask a buyer for any money for them because it would be pointless to take them anyway.
We don't have many curtains in our house but will be taking those (although leaving the poles).0 -
I left some light fittings, carpets and all the bathroom fittings. Didn't leave curtain poles as they were very expensive. Everything was documented though. In hindsight, I wish I'd taken the bathroom fixtures as I can't get anything of the same quality here and we'd paid a small fortune for them.0

One house I bought in the 1970s, the buyer wanted extra for the secondary glazing units (which I agreed, but didn't pay until moving in day). In those days taking toilet roll holders, light fittings, light bulbs, garden plants, curtain rails etc was the norm.
I personally wouldn't take anything that was screwed in or down or was built in, I'd probably take curtains, but not blinds. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
OK - so have none of the vendors filled in the standard legal form which details what you are / arent including in the sale?
This covers most but not all of the items concerned.0 -
leaving curtain track but taking curtains down as the bays are the same size to the front.
Leaving kitchen curtains and the new house is different size.
If it can be realistically reused in the new place then there's no reason why you couldn't take it if you have filled in your fixtures and fittings form.
If it wont fit then whats the point?Sealed pot challange no: 3390 -
I would assume that if the details state 'X' is included in the sale, and it's particularly expensive, then the price would reflect it. In an ideal world.
Unless you're going to take them with you then they're not much use to you. If you've got a good use out of them, then you can't expect a purchaser to pay the same price for them as you did, so unless taking them with you I would cut my loses. It's all part of moving house.0 -
General rule of thumb is that if you turned the house upside down and shook it, anything that didn't fall out stays. That would include curtains and blinds.
I expect them to stay but I always check with the vendors when viewing. I don't think I've ever owned two places with windows the same size so curtains/blinds wouldn't be much use.0 -
