"I believe mycarcheck are liable but they saying that a 'stolen' marker was not put on the reg and that it was just a query marker- threfore i'm not covered- however surely any marker should ring alarm bells and they should have a duty to advise me as the buyer- hence me paying money for the check?! "
Surely if there is even a query marker on there they should notify you and allow you to 'make of it what you will'. I'd contact a solicitor and see where you stand, if you have any Legal expenses cover on your motor/home insurance i'd contact them also.
Yes I'd like to think so but clearly not because two months later and im still no further on. If only certain markers are picked up then this should be made absolutely clear to the consumer because otherwise these checks are a total waste of money because they are pointless!!!!
Thanks everyone for your advice0 -
At last someone see's the point of getting a proper check..
Sorry but you do get what you pay for with cheap checks.
Autoexpress did a test of these services and some failed to spot a car that had finance owing or was actually written off.
Its worth paying for a proper check.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

op still hasnt confirmed hes bought a clone
at auction if you buy a clone you need to confirm before you drive out of their compound or else they will argue you did it and not pay
a hpi whoever does it can not tell you there are more than one car running around with thew same id
in the original post it is said a query mark was flagged on the hpi, this could be for many reasons and could be as simple as the uncloned car had had several hpi checks done by buyers as this car might well have been owned by the dodgy sellers too, have the police investigated this angle?
easy to have all the paperwork correct from a rented house thewn sell you a clone and do a runner isnt it
as i said much earlier on if you are going to buy in suburbia you need to be alert to people who make a living robbing you via devious means0 -
If you were to run a REAL hpi check AGAIN, the marker will still be on for you to see.
This may give you some clout then.
Dont argue with the first company, go round them, if the marker is a serious one, get the contract downloaded from the website ASAP from the first car check company, get it read by a legal expert and apply to the court for its enforcement.
If you are not prepared to do any of this, then that is the end of the road I am afraid, the first company are not going to serve you up an easy win.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. The marker may well be a stolen recovered marker now which wouldn't be much help cause that's what it is.0
