Is this rule prevalent at ANPR car parks by any chance? Call me a cynic, but is it to provide yet more opportunities for the first in, last out scam?

not a cynic, realist. I'm curious to see if ppc.guy has any feedback on this syndrome.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

It's an utterly ridiculous policy and not confined to Asda, as we all know.

The really daft thing is, if you just took your shopping home and swapped to your OH's car you could drive back to the Supermarket without a problem. And stay another 2 hours if you wanted to wander around other shops.

    Daft!

Or equally what if I go to Asda drive home and the OH then uses the car. Unknown to me she decides to go to Asda as well. It's not the car entering the so called contract ! They might as well identify people by the jacket they where for all the use it is.
All aboard the Gus Bus !

Ring up Asda and ask to speak to the manager and then inform them, that you were about to return to buy the £500 TV you saw while you were there, but as you are not allowed to return, you are about to spend your £500 in Tesco instead.

That is exactly what it is for, to try to give a false veneer of legitimacy to their scam.

Problem for them is they cannot enforce it, and they know that we know they can't

What, the ticket guy in the car park? Probably, but he might have been good at woodwork, you never know.
