Hello all, newbie here. I've been putting money into a sealed pot for this year anyway, but thought it was quite fun to report on my success as we move forward. I have a nice Coca Cola sealed tin from local pound shop, and it started off with a £20 note of swapped change from my previous efforts and is now about a third full.
I seriously doubt I will save as much as some on here do, as mine tends to be filled with annoying change at the end of the day rather than significant amounts that I've 'saved' from elsewhere, but I can't wait till the tin is full to see how much I've saved and what I can do with it!
Oh, and if anyone's interested, the intention of the savings is to pay in part or full for some cheap flights/trains somewhere for me and my partner, so I can go on a mini-holiday which I wouldn't have done without my sealed tin. The emphasis is on something that, without the savings, I wouldn't have bought, I'm lucky in that I won't have to use it to pay off utility bills or debt but not flushed with enough spare cash to do all the things I'd like so no matter how small the trip is when I cash in I want it to be something 'extra'. Let's see how far I can get when I break it open at the end of the year!0 -
