Also I had a colleague who would write bigger words than necessary into formal meeting minutes, instead of saying 'Bob said' we get 'Bob mooted the point that...' or 'Bob opined'

Whilst things like 'thanx' are effing annoying, at least they allow to you accurately gauge the intellect of the person using it and adjust your expectations of them accordingly.
I knew my boss was a moron, but she 'thanx'ed me in an email on Friday, which supported my previous judgement.Debt free as of July 2010 :j
