O2 changed their system about 6 months ago, now it's 15p/min on PAYG, Virgin is also now 15p for all 0844 prefixed numbers. These 2 operators used to charge the same on pAYG tariff as for 01x numbers.0

I assume PAYG stands for pay as you go? How about Pay monthly Plans (both the SIM only ones,30 day contracts, and the pay monthly contracts, 12 & 18 months)?
Thank you

They are not Free they come out of your inclusive minutes which you normally pay for.0 -
Thank you for the replies. Below is a copy from the o2 website.
"1. Inclusive minutes, any UK network
The inclusive minutes can be used for any UK mobile network and UK Fixed Lines and excludes 07744, 07755, 0871 and premium rate numbers. Applies to use in the UK only. Inclusive minutes can be used at anytime except on Online Leisure Plans when the inclusive minutes can only be used 7pm to 7am weekdays and all weekend."
It excludes preium rate numbers and the above prefixes. Does 0844 fall into any of the above categories? Just need to be sure before going ahead with a purchase
Thank you for your help.

P.S: I have found the following website that says calls are free when used with an o2 mobile pkan. Anyone has used them before? http://www.call123.co.uk/freeo2.html0 -

I am the owner of call123.co.uk, I haven't posted my business here before as advertising is not allowed. However, since somebody else has brought the subject up, I have found the following excerpt from the small print of the tariff detail on the O2 website which confirms that 0844 numbers are included in 02 call plans.
"UK Fixed Line Calls include calls made in the UK to standard UK Fixed-Line Numbers, voicemail menu access and retrieval, fax calls and calls to free phone, local rate and national rate numbers (0845 and 0870) and 0800, 0808 and 0844 numbers."
In any case, I would always recommend that you check the small print of your O2 contract that 0844 numbers are included in your call plan before using this or any similar service.0 -
O2 do normally allow you at the present time to make calls to 0844/0845/0870 numbers (Not 0871) from your inclusive contact x-net minutes but they are not FREE as i have already pointed out, because you normally pay for your inclusive minutes.
EG Lets say you pay £30 a month for 300 minutes the 0844 calls would be costing 10p a minute.
Their are lots of Intl gateway numbers and suppliers you can use see

Call123 are agents of justdial ,their are lots of these guys around.0 -

Apart from the cost of inclusive minutes (payed through the monthly fee) I am wondering if there is any extra cost incurred from the 0844 number?
Call123: Is it trully free to call (apart from the inclusive minutes been used)?
Thank you

Providing o2 continue to allow calls to 0844 numbers out of inclusive minutes no extra charges will be incurred, unless you exceed your allocated inclusive minutes ,when o2 would charge 15p a minute.(The provider of any 0844 gateway service is not able charge you anyway).0

I thought the 0844 does charge you an extra fee.. That fee is shown in the international checklist here.. For example for Cyprus the cheaper one is 1p/min. Isn't that extra charge that will be reflected in your pay-monthly bill?
Thank you
