Ok the saga is coming to an end I hope!!!

After responding to a letter and email (sent via a link from Twitter!!!) they bought the repair date forward by a week (we waited 2 weeks instead of 3)
I took the day off work yesterday as I was convinced I would not the let the repairman leave (parking behind his van in our drive so he would not be able to get out haha) untill I had a repaired washing machine or a refund code.
Anyway at 11.15 yesterday morning I recieved a call from Comet which I thought may be a update of his arrival time but no the repairman had called in sick that morning, what a surprise.
Before I had the chance to explode down the phone he said that his manager had authorised a replacement code!!!!
I received a letter confirming this today so it finally looks like we are reaching the end of our problems.
I have been offered a replacement at the same or equivalent specification.
It states in the letter that "If your product was purchaced with a discount, a refund can only be given" we got it in a sale and the machine is now selling for £100 more so does this affect anything?
I guess that I will have to take along the broken machine before I can get the replacement or will they collect it?
Also as we will never get a refund and as crazy as it sounds giving comet more money could we pay extra and upgrade from a candy to something else?
