Washing Machine Broken.

Quick update.
The part has now arrived with Comet so the engineer has been booked for 3 weeks time!!! haha.
Also they cannot gaurentee that he will be able to repair it so they may have to replace it after he has had a go anyway according to his notes.
Citazens advice have told me to file a section 75 claim with Mastercard which I have and let comet know but they seem more interested about that than fixing my machine.
They all keep asking me to do a customer satisfaction survey after all the calls too!!!!0 -
You have a lot more patience than me, and I live on my own!
I guarantee there would be a new machine in my kitchen by now, totally unacceptable.0 -
There is nothing we can do as their policy is to repair or replace and they are deciding on repair.
I would like to take it back to the shop but the staff there are all at the bottom of the food chain anyway so probaly a waste of time as they could not do anything.
Comet customer services are the best advert for Currys can get.0 -

haha, this.
But seriously, have you seen how many complaints Comet gets recently, especially regarding long repair times, on this forum compared to Currys and PcWorld?
I have a hard time believing it's down to Comet sell more than Dixons Retail (which they don't) and Comet customers are more vocal (probably the same) which leads me to believe perhaps, just perhaps either Dixons Retail have bribed the manufacturers to supply machines that always work, or their customer service and aftersales service is miles better than Comet's.
But what do I know, I'm bias'd.0 -
I now know from google that I am only one of many who complain about Comet.
The frustrating thing about all of this seems to be that no one that I have spoken too from Comet seems to really care its 'just the take it or leave it' attitude as they know there is nothing I can do about it.
I will never buy from them again but why would they care about the few hundred pounds we spend there in a year.
Judging from what I have read about their repairs online I doubt that the next visit will be the last.
Maybe they can string it out untill Christmas when the warranty expires so then they can charge me for the repair haha!!!0 -
Not really suprising as Comet customer service centre staff are all being made redundant.

Staff in Hull are having to train people from Clevedon who will take over their jobs. Morale is rock bottom.0 -
I was referred to Comet by someone who saw me looking at the vacuum cleaners in Sainsbury's today. I am so glad I found this web site before buying one from Comet. The customer "service" phone number, at 10p a minute, made me feel uncomfortable and some of the problems described here just completes the picture. The first six models I checked were all 'out of stock' and I wonder now if they even carry them despite the adverts, When I purchased the same item from Sainsbury's instead I discovered that the Sainsbury regular price was about the same as the Comet sale price.0

Quick Update.
After several letters (Sent Recorded) and telephone conversations they are refusing our requests to Replace or Refund and are only going to attempt a repair first.
I guess I will have to accept this now or go to court?
If I refuse the repair (as there are 7 parts some very major) will I risk being left with nothing if the judge decides its perfectly acceptable to take 2 months to repair a washing machine?
By the time that it gets repaired it will be over 6 months old even though it will have been sitting there for 2 months so if it breaks again would it be then up to me to prove that it was factory faulty?0 -
Well think I now have the answer after talking to Credit Card.
Comet have the right to repair my machine and as much as I want a replacement they can do whatever they want to do.
So very upsetting we now feel as though we have been conned out of our money that we tried so hard to save up and will end up with a patched up machine as opposed to nearly new .
I hate them so much as they have bought a lot of stress and upset.0 -
I would be fuming if I was you!
If it was me, £30 small claims court. Id do it more out of principle then anything else.0
