    Try it temporarily without any wireless security and see if it will connect.
    What sort of wireless card have you got in the laptop?
    If 'G' or 'N', try changing the protocol in the router set up to the same, rather than to the default (probably G and N).
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
