Want to do something for a friend but worried its silly!

I've become really close with a neighbour and we see eachother everyday and our kids always play together, we've both been through some tough times and I've been helping her sort out things and found out that when she had her little boy she was alone in the hospital with him for 5 days with no visitors, his Dad turned up once off his face on crack, stole her bank card and emptied her bank account. Oh and he bought her a nicked "get well soon" card. She just cried for days in the hospital.

She said she'd told her ex all she wanted was a ballon, a card and some flowers after she had him, just the usual stuff a new mum gets really.

Anyway, I know it is 3 years late but I was thinking of getting those things for her... Is that really stupid?

I think it's a lovely idea and I'm sure your friend would be thrilled.
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I think it is sweet but how about a balloon, an Easter egg and a card and giving it to her next week.

Sorry I didn't mean to forget the flowers. Just to tie it in with Easter so it's not 3 tears too late!

That is so nice wish you lived near me :)
  • WIth gestures like that, even if the recipient does think it's silly, they will really appreciate the sentiment behind it. Having said that, with a history like hers I reckon she'll just love it. Don't forget a box of tissues, though ;)
  • Thanks I think I am going to grab stuff over the weekend and give it to her on next week, Her Dad is coming up for easter and I know that will be quite arkward for her so I wont wait till then. I've already got her an easter egg, I'm doing a hunt for our kids and I'm going to hide her's with her little boys when she brings them over, as I know she wont get one from anyone... Silly little things really but the pair of them are all alone apart from her Dad visiting once every few months.

Aww what a lovely idea. Make sure you have a tissue handy when you give it to her though, because if she's anything like me she'll blub like a baby when you give them to her :o lol
  • I have no idea what to write in the card? I thought of writing a poem or something, I am not very good with words... I wanted to say something like

I know its three years late, but if anybody deserved these gifts it's you.
They cant make up for the past but I hope they go some way to letting you know what an amazing mum & friend you are.

Or something like that, I know its not worded very well, I struggle with emotional stuff haha!
