I've never really understand why most students actually need cars tbh, let alone how they pay for them.

normal lives to lead, shopping to do, places to go...

And how do they afford them? student loans, parents, cards, savings... or
god forbid even a job :rotfl:

I vote for stupidest post of the year..

I have been watching too many American cop programmes. Were you parked anywhere near the cash machine. In one CSI prgramme (or something similar) they solved a crime because the ATM machines take regular photos!

Does the Tesco car park have any kind of fine if you stay too long in a parking space? If so, how is that monitored? Just wondering if Tesco doesn't have cameras in their car park but someone else does.

Apart from the fact that it's not a fine but a speculative invoice, and that any private parking company will be a bigger criminal than the driver.

Despite this, it's worth looking for the cameras covering the entrance(s) and exit(s) and asking.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

See if your local paper will take a photo of you with a sad face and car with a wrecked bumper. Someone may dob them in it.

Also ask at local petrol stations as they may have had drive offs for fuel the same day by the same car. If so, as someone mentioned, ask them to let the police know. You shouldn't be given any data in case you track them down and beat them up.

  • Did you see the car do it or was it a witness who came forward with this information to you . If it was a witness there could be maybe more of them who so what had happened and took down the other drivers reg details .
Go on eBay and see if you can get a second hand one hopefully a same colour for a local garage to do the work for you .
Try avoid claiming on insurance if you can .

I think the chances are, if you keep your eyes open you'll spot this car again. Then it's up to you what you want to do....... If the damage is still present, take photo's and follow it up.

Hi Krissy, sorry to hear of your misfortune. Have you had any quotes for the damage to your car yet? I take it you're saying it would cost you up to £1k up front because that is what your excess is on your insurance policy?

I kind of feel that, if the damage is going to cost £1k or more, then that was quite a shunt you got there and with you sitting in the car you must have been quite severely jolted (catching my drift yet?). If it really was as bad as you say then you probably should get yourself checked out by a doctor, it's possible that you could have sustained whiplash or some back/neck injury.

Are you saying the Police are not going to do anything about this due to lack of CCTV footage? Surely if there is a personal injury attached to this hit an run then they should treat it like any other hit and run out on the street? Or do criminals get some kind of diplomatic immunity on private property? Surely there were other shoppers at the store. Its a natural reflex for people to look to the source of an unexpected noise, maybe you could campaign next week, same time same place asking for witnesses to come forward?

Is this another case of Criminals, 1 - Police, 0 - Public, Collateral Damage!

Good luck anyway, I hope you can find the scumbag who did this.
