Hi all
Am afraid I'm only armed with half a story but here goes.
Our annual subscription to McAfeee is up (it flags up every time we log on to the laptop). Hence we're 'keen' to renew.
I intend to click on the renew button in the next few days but wondered is this the most efficient way of buiyng (i.e. are there third party suppliers out there that can undercut McAfee directly)?
Sorry I cant help with which of the McAfee products is currently installed as I'm at work in my lunch hour and I can't tell you how much the renewal will be as I havent clicked on renew yet!
Please no posts along the lines of McAfee is rubbish, get this or that. We're happy that our PC has been fine for the past 12 months so we're happy to extend.
Thanks for reading

Doesn't McAfee auto-renew at a ridiculously high price? You should check that.
Perhaps you should repost when you have the full story.0 -

If you're happy with mediocre malware detection, do carry on...0 -
Why are you asking how to buy one of the worst virus protectors on the market then?Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0

so how much have they paid you to say it is as good as mediocre?Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
Come on, the OP is happy with it. What they're asking (regardless of the software itself) is;l Is it cheaper to nenew through the program itself, or just outright buy a new subscription.
OP needs to go back home, and look at the package, check online the equivalent package and actually work out the costs. Also see if your bank offers you anything for free/reduction. They do seem to do it randomly (prolly check online in banking I guess)
That all said.... Go to Avast.com and buy from there!0 -

Superb response!! I don't understand why forums like this exist if it not for asking questions if google could answer them all.

yes thats exactly the angle I was coming from.
Looking at some of the responses that people have insanely taken the time to post this is clearly a very emotive issue for some.

Deary me....McAfee is at best, average. Fact. It kills CPU performance, performs a scan, and once or twice a week, that is unresponsive for several minutes, due to the continual upgrades to the suite. What was once a OK antivirus program, has become nothing more than bloatware.0
