Govt is making a loss here, because once the panic is over, fuel sales will drop until people use up all the extra they had stored away and income from fuel tax will dip sharply in the next few weeks.
This whole idea that this is making money for the govt, it's nothing but mindless gossip.Yes you did, I apologize, I misread your post.
Of course there are those that think the Govt. engineered the panic buying, not through incompetence, but by design.
Increased fuel sales and stockpiling may just improve the end of year 'sales' figures. Last quarters growth was 0% and then downgraded to -ve. Another 0% or -ve growth month and we are officially in recession.
This late flurry of fuel sales may just be enough to give slight +ve growth this quarter and thus enable the Govt. to claim we aren't in recession.
Cynical, me :A
I think its more than slight sales and profit, we are talking about here.
Some guy was on the breakfast tv this morning saying, was it 750 million litres of fuel had been sold this week, as opposed to the normal 90 million. I think it was millions. Thats a HUGE increase in sales.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

He refused and told her to mind her own buisness but she was still going on like a demented budgie. The best bit was the assistant refused to serve this woman saying she was abusive to him so she ended up with no fuel after queing for around 45 mins. Her face was a picture as she sheepishly walked with her head bowed back to her car.
my coach gets around 11mpg thats why they have such big fuel tanks0 -

the fuel tank is at the front just below the front 2 rows of seats you can get the tanks fitted by the chassis maker ie volvo scania ect or the body builder can fit there own ie vanhool bova plaxton ect the tanks fitted by the body manufacturer tend to be bigger.
btw anyone in the alloa area know who has fuel sister in law cant get any meaning she cant come to visit us.just because you are paranoid doesnt mean to say they are not out to get you0 -

What we buy and what we USE are two different things!!!
There's little benefit in taking huge sales now, then reduced sales next month.
Why are so many people so short sighted?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
