Ill come back on tonight and tell you about shops. The council estate is reached through Kingston Crescent. Not sure exactly but some of the houses there are private and others not. Its not very near where youre planning but we lived there for 19 years without any problem until they decided to congegrate literally on our doorstep because it was on the way to the shops from there and also there was somewhere for them to hang out. To be fair we had a couple of bad families in our road who attracted them. I think your area is much better. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

You are well away from the shops & the centre there, I don't really know the road though myself. I'll ask my m-i-l for you tonight if you'd like? But I would say that there you're not really going to be bothered about the 'lordswood lads', and you'll probably drive straight out of Lordswood off to work and bigger shops, so probably won't see most of it (if you see what I mean). One thing I would suggest (apart from the idea of coming to see the house in the evening and seeing how the area is then, as Lordswood is mostly evening trouble) - is to look into your work journey - I can tell you how much an annual railcard is from Chatham to London once I speak to hubby, as he bought one last month, but parking near Chatham station isn't easy but buses from Lordswood to Chatham take a while. We live 20 minutes walk away and do it that way, you might want to look up Chatham's railway station and see about getting a parking space - or at least getting on the waiting list for one.

Yes and as stated it's pretty poor in my opinion.
No need to shout
p.s Also I note you're thanking the people who have said positive things and ignoring the people who have said the opposite. This tells me your mind is made up anyway. Good luck anyway
p.p.s Lordswood = Medway towns which I personally would steer clear of now.0 -
I too have been drawn to Walderslade Woods... mainly Boxley Road and also Thorndale Close which is on the other side near to Maidstone Road (although I noticed there is a really ropey looking parade of shop just behind in Holland Road/Watson Avenue.
You can certainly get a lot of house of the money down there at the moment and the road and rail links are pretty good for London (where I work)...
I currently live in SE London in an area that would be considered "chavey" and at times rough with kids hanging about but for the most part it is very quiet and we have never suffered any serious crime nearby (about 20 years ago there was a spate of burglaries but that was it). Around here you go from one road to the next and it will be "rough" then £1Mil+ houses then back to "rough".
We want more living space but are on a tight budget... also I have two kids 8 and 10 so the elder will need to go to a secondary school soon... comparing the OFSTED reports with those in my current area the Walderslade ones all get better ratings.
So I am unsure... the Medway Towns for as long as I can remember haven't had a great reputation but it's easy to be snobby (well more selective) when you already have your dream home in a lovely quaint village somewhere.0
