Does an IRS aerial set up (in flats) have a different aerial cable??

That's why we don't fit Triax facias, but then may be I'm missing out on some $ervice call$?0 -

I have been to 100's of service calls where people have the aerial cable in the radio socket. We mainly install in new builds to electrical specification so that is what is usually asked for.
It should be the landlord who makes sure everything is there for the tennant (info etc).
Plus many of these systems have an additional bedroom socket that will never work unless a sky box return feed it connected to the plate or a bypass link is installed. (again confuses many a tennat!)
Why is it done that way though, why is it not done in a way that the aerial cable can go straight into the socket, like in the old types of aerial sockets??
It seems silly to fit a socket and not leave it in a useable way as everyone else in the block must have had to go out and buy a connector! If I had been using the socket at the time I would have realised while the fitter was here though. Or it wouldn't have been so bad had we had some sort of booklet left behind to read on how it all works!
I've had a lot of problems rescanning my Freeview channels today, the signal strength is only showing around 60% though if that has anything to do with it.. or not sure if that is my connector, aerial cable or the IRS installation :huh:0 -

Here's a generic information for residents booklet.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
I got one off a family member, even better, was free! My Freeview is now working too, thanks for the advice.
No thanks though to the installers of the aerial socket... surely if it was their job it was a fairly simple installation you would think!
Can anyone tell me how I would make use of the radio socket, what, when or how is that used on these systems? (presume I get digital radio channels via Freeview anyway, haven't looked yet).
Cable companies such as NTL used to have an 'FM HOOK UP' feed when they still did the old analogue service many moons ago,but that was gradually stopped so the faceplate you have may hark back to that era.0
