I wonder if the OP survived?
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)
  • Hi,

post 39 says they survived, but that was over 8 years ago, maybe mum dead now, daughter married, kids, who knows? ;)
  • I've just done the same thing. Picked up a pack of these from Tesco last night thinking they'd be good for a picnic today.
Mindlessly ate one and thought texture was funny inside. Took a better look. They weren't cooked.
I picked them up from an end of aisle stand full of COOKED chicken.
They should put a sticker on it saying less than 15 mins in oven.

    Are you still with us?

I've just stumbled across this thread having googled 'eaten raw chicken by mistake' .... They were mini fillets from Sainsburys dusted in breadcrumbs. I assumed that they were cooked and didn't read the label fully and the cooking instructions were underneath.

Do I have a night of projectile vomiting to look forward too?

It is now Tuesday, did you survive or vomit?

I'm fine so far, thanks for asking.

I was expecting to wake up in the night feeling terrible, but fortunately nothing happened.

My theory was that if I ate a decent amount and drank a lot of water, I might somehow dilute the uncooked chicken a bit. Not sure if that made any difference, but I seem to have got away with it :)

You would only have got sick if the chicken had nasty bacteria on it to start with. Obviously yours didn't.

There's nothing wrong with raw meat as such - only a problem if it's contaminated.
  • Oh my, I have just done exactly what this lady has done.

    Picked up chicken goujons, from
The chilled aisle with cooked chicken. (Tesco).

Covered in breadcrumbs, as I often buy these frozen I assumed they just needed heating.... I ate mine in a wrap, served my husband his after already eating mine ... he took one bite and said these are raw ... I said that’s impossible they are pre cooked.

He showed me what he’d spat out and it was RAW chicken.

I am now searching around for previous experience - I know that chicken has to be contaminated to make you unwell, but I feel really uneasy about having raw chicken in my stomach !!

I’ve tried to bring it back up, to try and prevent any illness but I’ve had no luck.

    Time will tell!!

Also, I’ve been watching programmes on Netflix about how bad meat is for you, ‘the game changer’ and ‘cow spiracy’ and this was my last meat meal before trialing a plant based diet.

It’s going to be a last to remember !!!

Not seen them, but do bear in mind a lot, or even most, of the meat stories are based on US based studies which obviously relate to how US meat is raised, grain fed in stockyards & injected with growth hormones

UK & EU is completely different, mainly grass fed & hormones are illegal, which sort of links in the the chlorinated chicken scares, it is not the end product it is the method of rearing that is the problem with US meat

  • Don't worry, you are almost certainly going to be fine.
