Charges Abroad

Well, £12K is 4Gb of data in Australia. Your brother seems to be having a lot of fun over there. I think he has to be prepared to stay on PAYG for 6 years after coming back and to have no access to any credit.
I think you are going nowhere by keeping acting 'on his behalf'.0 -
The charge will be calculated as megabytes used x £/megabyte. Which of the following are you disputing on the bill?beckyminime wrote: »We receive. Bill today for 1 month of £11,750- The number of megabytes used is incorrect, i.e. it differs from the data counter in the phone
- Price per megabyte is incorrect, i.e. it differs from the network's advertised charge

We have stablished hi phone was cut off on the 14th feb and we have paid that bill .... So it should just be the line rental as he had been using an Australian sim card instead of Vodafone.
Thank u for your reponse0 -
Roaming charges don't always reach your bill in real time. It can take days or weeks, or even up to three months for them to reach your bill. Therefore the charges incurred before 14th February could be billed up to three months later. Can you answer my above question with regard to usage before 14th February?beckyminime wrote: »We have stablished hi phone was cut off on the 14th feb and we have paid that bill .... O2 are now claiming that mobile data needs to be off too. According to them this morning the phone will try to update when mobile data is on (even if DR is off) and you'll get charged. Of course, that's hidden well away in the small print somewhere I imagine - I've looked and still can't find it on their site.
The trick seems to be to keep ringing and harassing until it gets knocked off the bill - I had the distinct feeling this morning they were trying to be as difficult as possible so that I would just hang up and give up.
Odd.
On my O2 4s I have...
Mobile Data Switch with the following text underneath it:
Turn off Mobile Data to restrict all data to Wi-Fi, including email, web browsing and push notifications
Then further down...
Data Roaming switch with the following text underneath it:
Turn off Data roaming when travelling to avoid charges when web browsing and using email and other data services.
Now if you read the two together, one restricts it to Wifi and the other restricts all roaming data so therefore to avoid all charges, both should be turned off.
I switch both Mobile Data and Data Roaming off and have no issues whatsoever with any data charges. Neither of these switches disable Wi-Fi, thats in a completely different settings menu...I use Viber etc all on Wifi without no additional costs...0 -
Now, assuming that WiFi is free, explain me, please, why turning Data Roaming off is apparently not sufficient.
The poster said mobile data set to off turned off wifi, which the screens actually state is the opposite.
I'm reading out the screen content, its what the screen says, you need to ask that question to Apple as to why roaming doesn't stop data charges...from what I read, if I switch both off then I will only have access to wifi, which is in an entirely separate settings menu.
I'm just telling you what I do when I travel and in 16 trips abroad this year I have had zero charges added for data.0 -
Something wrong is with your logic as you said 'therefore' that implied that it was clear from the texts on the screen that switching data roaming off was not sufficient and that mobile data had to be switched off as well.... you need to ask that question to Apple as to why roaming doesn't stop data charges......Mobile Data Switch with the following text underneath it:
Turn off Mobile Data to restrict all data to Wi-Fi, including email, web browsing and push notifications
...
Data Roaming switch with the following text underneath it:

...therefore to avoid all charges, both should be turned off.
Of course, if your raincoat is leaking, you can just wear two raincoats to stay dry. Alternatively you can expect from the manufacturer to stop producing faulty raincoats and to replace all the faulty ones already sold.I'm just telling you what I do when I travel and in 16 trips abroad this year I have had zero charges added for data.0 -
interestingly I just found out something new...
If you turn off the mobile data the phone automatically hides the roaming option. So you don't need to turn both off, just the mobile data one will do...0
