I have been to view a couple of 2 bed places this week. I have been quite disheartened by the state of the places! The second one I viewed was a really nice house - only 8 years old, but it was in much worse condition than my 15 year old place. I guess things will only get worse in the future as some people just won't bother keeping their homes nice, knowing it will only be temporary. Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass0

If it as 4 walls a root and heating it will do, like bright side said the government made this problem thats coming, i can't see no one going to pump any of there own money to keep a council house in shape, thats if there is any spare cash to go around in the first place.0

Yes sometimes. But that is as much as mark of the landlord as the tenant. Back of me, and I only got back to the UK at Christmas, the bloody tenants from hell. Thank God they did a flit in May. In the one short year they were here (as reported by my neighbours as well as observed by me) they created a major crime wave, brought drug dealers into the area, and were more entertaining than Eastenders (I am told - I haven't ever seen it) in terms of their daily and often multiple daily bust ups at high decibels. They were English and she was called - I joke not - Heaven, and had the biggest and nastiest mouth on her I have ever heard (and given my clients over here - that's a claim!). Oh and they left the place in a mess because the landlord never came round and just collected his rent (first timer - he's learnt his lesson, but not all of them do or care).
We now have a lovely Eastern European couple who are working, pleasant, quiet as church mice, and are decorating.
Up the road, a nice couple with their daughter, good landlord, been here for ever, just spent a nice amount on doing up their front garden. Across the road, another nice family with a good landlord, here ten years and a lovely house.
Landlords usually get the tenants they deserve - if they don't care about their property and it's all about the money, then they get tenants who don't care either.0 -

Exactly. Perhaps the LA should take a leaf out of their book, either in the form of a deposit or a charge when properties are left in a state.0 -
Caps on housing benefit and the rest will not apply to anyone over pension age, or any household where someone is in recept of DLA or AA.
(And, for some reason ex-offenders, of any age, are also exempt:

LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
From Lins link......
'The DWP (Department of Work and Pensions) have approved exemptions for ex-offenders if claimants might present a risk of causing serious harm to the public'.
 Surely they should still be locked up if that's the case! Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass0
