  • Thats the plan. I know its nothing to JLR in the scheme of things but if i can get 3-4k out of them it makes me feel a bit happier.
  • I heard November, im just waiting for the payoff now, another 2 months i can tolerate. Sooner the better.

Anyone whos been there over 2 years gets redundancy. My friends who got let go just all did.

Oh, OK fair enough. The lads I know were just let go at the end of their current contract so assume they had less than two years.

Hope it all works out for you and you find something more suitable.
  • After 2 years of employment whether you are agency or not, in the eyes of British law you are a full employee with same rights as a contracted worker in regards to dismissal, redundancy etc.

Cheers Richard, its been an experience is probably the best i could say, just wish they had been honest from the start as i would have politely told them where to stick 5 years agency work. Nevermind, we live and we learn :)

We've heard that no more are going now! And only 800 of the 1000 originally earmarked were let go.

It's all rumour and speculation, until there is an official notice. (Or check the Birmingham Mail for updates :rotfl:)
  • Harvey ive worked in BS 1/2/3 and block 62.

I actually got an email the other night from Manpower stating no more losses expected :( I was genuinely hoping for redundancy. I tried to swop in July with people who were going and wanted to stay bu they wouldnt do it.

ISn't Bodyshop2 closing soon though for 6 months? I imagine there will be some cuts then.
  • Will probably close for more than 6 months, but BS1 will be picking up the extra load of L405 and have to go on 4 shifts.

According to my union rep the next 3 new models we get at Solihull should be enough to guarantee production for the next 10 years for the current workforce. not sure if thats just the current 7k core workers or includes a couple of thousand agency also
  • Think theres 800 of us left now on Manpower, down from 3000 in 2016
  • Looks like redundancy back on.
  • anyone heard anything else about possible job cuts after the stand down period?
