No idea mate, just know I've got my two weeks induction, so I'm guessing I'll find out if I'm on blue or red shifts then and which area I'll be going! Any tips for me to make things easier for myself?

I assume your two weeks will be 1 week Pera and 1 week on the start of your "Apprenticeship" .

These are really nothing to worry about, you will not be allowed to fail ;), although the non Pera week can be very slow and boring depending on how many people there are to get through.

If there is a largish group of you then use the time to get to know the others there, there is a good chance you will end up working in the same areas as them.

When you get on the shop floor, DON'T PANIC! There are some crap jobs but nothing that isn't doable.

If you're on one of the harder jobs, allow your body to adjust, you will ache and be stiff but you should allow two weeks "work hardening" regardless of how fit you are.

Get to know your co-workers and build good relations with them as you will be spending a lot of time with them in a boring repetitive environment. Having a couple of good mates make it much easier.

If it seems to be getting too much, just think of the money ;). It doesn't start of fantastic, but last a couple of years and it soon escalates to a very good rate. Last tax year, on shifts (half 90% half 92.5% pay rate) I earned in excess of £36,000 with very little O/T, and I know some of the 100%ers who have earned £50,000+.

    Good luck.

I;m in the same boat as you. They still haven't sent over the interview diary but hopefully we should get our interviews in May. Astraturbo has inside info on the place but he hasn't posted anything in ages.

  • Hope summer time means June after witsun shutdown.

£14.49, at CB, I think Solihull is very slightly less.

Oh and CB get a £30 a week "Supplement" as well but don't have the system for banking hours.

Edit, should just point out that this is on a Jag and Landrover contract. Don't know if there are any differences in hourly rate on Manpower.
