It does get easier, both physically and mentally, you need to give it time. (Although admittedly it just doesn't suit some people)
It also depends where you land, some areas and departments are a lot easier than others.
Also remember, you are the new blokes, so probably will end up on the worse jobs, but, that will change over time and there will be opportunities to move onto some of the better jobs as new labour is bought in.
ye you're right, we are the new guys and most of us end up on the worst jobs, and i suppose in time we will do the same to the new starters.
i am used to hard graft i have always worked in physically demanding jobs and i am also very fit...but this job is on another level.
i am running from one car straight the to next and if i drop a bolt that can screw me over..it is literally seconds.
but i hope with experience it becomes less of a stress.0 -

What was stressful about it can you give us an idea of a standard shift
In all honesty it depends where you go on how hard the job will be. If you go into body and white or paint shop it's fairly easy from what I hear. If your in Final assembly which is where the cars and assembled and where the majority of people get put its probably the hardest. Fa1 is the old final assembly hall and is fairly brutal from what I've heard. Track barely stops and most people there have been there for yonks.
Fa2 is where most people will get put (where I work) which is the new build and is about to go three shift. It's still fairly difficult but track stops a fair bit and don't do as many cars as in fa1. I won't lie I found the first few months draining and fairly stressful but your body gets used to it and once you get used to the job your on its all fairly stress free and I don't get as achey and as tired as I did in first few months.
It's probably not for everyone and job can get boring but I have done much worse jobs for far less money. On the 70% rate you get in first year you should get around £27,500 gross on three shift and around £31,000 on your 80% after a year probably heading towards £40,000 after you get up to full pay after 5 years. They'll be a tonne of overtime as the new cars there building are predicted to go down a storm.0 -
My mate who also works at jlr told me 70% rate is about£21000 year, could clarify if this is true please0
