  • Hi Platoon you have to assemble an screw on an oil sump in a particular orer which i did but forgot to connect the brake to it on the other side so i had to unscrew all nuts and connect brake then move on . i lost a lot of time but did it all in the correct order and exactly the same as the demo but i ran out of time to complete it

I made the exact same mistake mate! forgot to put the pedal on. I got a fail and was well !!!!ed off. However i waited 3 months and re-applied, i got the same test second time round and knew where not to go wrong! I did really well second time round, passed the interview and i start on sept 2nd.. Re apply in 3 months and good luck!
  • I passed my assesment for the wolverhampton plant and have an interview on friday. Does anyone know whats its like?

To all who are applying for JLR word of advice if you not used to this kind of work you will find it very difficult and very tiring, not in the sense that the work is hard it's just constant. It's my second week and I'm struggling some people who started with me have already left hence why the money is good but you have to graft hard. I've been driving buses for the last 11 years and this kind if work I'm finding very hard to maintain, hopefully it will come to me and be a lot easier, have others struggled when they started and how you coping now.

I started 3 months ago and unless you are really fit or have done similar work recently then it's the same for everyone barring you get easier jobs of course. My first week wasn't too bad as I was learning a job, so only doing bit n pieces but I was left alone on my second week and I've never felt aches like it and worse still I was going in the next day aching just as bad. As soon as the job becomes second nature and you're strolling round doing it rather than running and panicking the aches almost go away completely apart from late on in some shifts, but they're usually dull aches.

Also after the recent 2 week shutdown were I barely done anything, I came back to agonising foot ache for the whole week for the second half of the shifts. But I will learn from this and be more active because my feet just got used to hardly moving again haha.
  • Hi all, wondering if anyone can help me before I phone up. I have a manual assessment next week at castle vale skills centre.

Can anyone tell me the dress code? The person who I spoke to on the phone told me not to wear jeans, something comfortable. What has everybody else worn? I want to make a good impression.

Also, what is the parking like? Is there a local car park as I've been told there is limited parking. And was told to take the bus if possible, which I live too far and am driving.

    Thanks Dan

Joggers and t-shirt for the manual assessment. Don't worry too much about making a good impression with how you look, they are only interested in how you perform at this stage.

Not sure about the parking sorry.
