Just thought I'd update people.
I started a few weeks back at the Solihull plant, I applied in March, and had my interview and assessment within the week. I hadn't heard anything for a month so I gave them a call, was brushed off with the we'll let you know line, then the next day they rang me first thing and said if you still want the job then get here within the hour. Think I just got lucky really. They did say at the interview that they had filled the initial 2000 (I think) jobs but they were waiting news on another 300 and were just preparing for that. If you haven't heard anything back then I wouldn't worry too much.
The shifts are different depending on the model you're on. They're as mentioned above and also a 7.30 - 4.00 & then a night shift switching every 2 weeks. I haven't done the night shift yet so unsure on hours. We are on compulsory over time for the foreseeable. We've been on a 2 week break and go back tomorrow.
Hardest part for me is standing on my feet for over 9 hours a day. The job is straight forward and if you can do the most basic DIY, you'll be fine.0 -
I called them again today & was told that there are still positions available & that they will be contacting people either way in the next few weeksEverything Happens For A Reason....0

By my maths if they are still contacting people for upto the next 2-4 weeks then they must be taking on 100ish a week, is this correct for anyone whose been taken on? How big our the NVQ classes or are you split into groups?
Cheers0 -

Ive been told they are still taking people each week until july. The classes are around 25 in each and your perform tests everyday on what you have been taught, its quite intense but enjoyable all the same.0 -

Yeah, very true, need to be a little more transparent throughout the process, i understand the overwhelming response to the job but that was always gonna happen in this case, hey maybe we can do the selection process next time?! haha, we've done enough of it (don't really wanna do the urine samples though!)0

Hello All,Like I said in earlier posts, they had taken about 800 on. Every Monday new recruits get a tour of the factory, this week there
hasn't been anyone. All the current staff who are Manpower and JLR staff who havn't done their NVQ are in PFL from next week doing it, so there will be no new employees or very few. Once in the factory it is quite tough, I heard a young guy got the sack after just two weeks because he said he could drive on his form and he had been banned.
You are supposed to get a week to learn a job which isnt always the case and then they are on your case. I dont think any of the jobs are difficult they just need time to learn.
Hope this helps0
