I was hoping to find some answers to my question . We have Autoaid (since the 70`s). Marvelous and easy. Rang them to see if they now did European cover as they`ve been taken over by RCIB and the headed paper read :Autonational Rescue/Eurorescue. Looks like we`d have to still pay our Autoaid £42.35 plus £92.97 for basic French cover(they ask if you just want France and Benelux Countries or further afield but price was identical ??!!) and extended cover was £103.30.
Their communication letter re having taken over Autoaid, contained no telephone number. I looked it up on line and , of course, came across all the awful reviews RCIB appear to be accumulating...
I am now loathe to renew Autoaid in August and would prefer an , `All in UK and Europe ` policy, with the added niceties that Autoaid had..like spousal cover.
If anyone has any ideas, we`d appreciate knowing. Our car is 6 years old.
    Thanks.

AA Breakdown cover up for renewal. Cost quoted is £234.34 for roadside, home start and relay. I could get same cover for £110.22 from GEM, £109.99 from RAC , £93 from LV or £97.45 from Green Flag.

I called AA to say I am considering canceling because I could get cover cheaper elsewhere. They offered me same cover for just £85, with all benefits intact. They gave me home start for free and reduced the other two coverages.

I have been with AA 17 years and said same thing for when renewal was due last year and they also offered me a greatly reduced price to remain with them

.I did it last year because I was certain I could get cover for cheaper and checked on this site for advice. That's when I read advice for haggling and it worked.

I am somewhat amazed businesses offer new customers better deals than loyal customers! And it must say something if they can afford to give me cove for £85 when they wanted to take over £200 from me!

Have you called up Auto Aid on their old number or even with Equity Red Star/Adrian Flux? I had to make a few claims as Auto Aid was just happening to being transferred to RCIB.

I was told that my policy had been "suspended" and that the usual pay and claim scenario no longer applied. It was to be treated as a bog standard breakdown policy. Considering I've called them out five times up to now it has paid for itself.

This may all change at renewal time of course.

    I hate the Auto-renewal rubbish.

I got free breakdown cover with my car insurance, but have taken that car off the road and cancelled the insurance a few months ago, but still they are going to auto-renew my breakdown cover, using the card I used to pay for my car insurance. :(

Tried ringing the cancellations now twice. First time, I was on hold for over 15 minutes and gave up. Currently upto 12 minutes and still can't get through.

Is there an easier way to cancel? Why I am forced to say I don't want something, rather than the opposite?

Just looked at their website to follow this up, as I have their policy and wanted to know what the new scheme entailed ( if anything has changed in the contract surely they are legally obliged to write and advise us ?) and their website states:

"All-inclusive cover and value you’ll appreciate.
With its exceptional Pay and Claim scheme, AutoAid gives you flexibility and peace of mind.
You’ll be covered in any eligible vehicle you're driving. If you experience a breakdown, call us and we’ll arrange for the assistance. You’ll pay for the help yourself, safe in the knowledge that you’re insured and we will reimburse you"

    So I am confused now.

Why I am forced to say I don't want something, rather than the opposite?

and why didn't you purchase a policy that doesn't auto-renew if that's important to you?

    Hi,

Thinking of taking out 2gether policy for £20 with similar level of cover to AutoAid. Thought I'd ask about it before I take it out.

Does anyone have recent experience of 2gether?

    Thanks!

Have just driven back from the South of France after a three week stay. Our car would not start the morning of our journey back up to Normandy. Were on a campsite in the middle of nowhere! Phoned the CBC European call out number. Fantastic, professional service. English speaking advisor who told us she was going to arrange for somebody to be out within the hour. Sent text to confirm that somebody was on their way. Very pleasant french gentleman came out, started car straight away (one of the kids had left the light on all night and our small jump leads were no good) with booster box. Stayed with us for a while to make sure it would start again which it did first time! Received a follow up call just after mechanic left to make sure everything was ok and that we were satisfied with service. All in all could not recommend highly enough and will definitely use again. Thank you MoneySavingExpert.
