MSE News: Game giftcards and points are now void

Hey people, I don't know if this is any consolation but I popped into my local gamestation yesterday to see what the score is now and the girl I spoke to said the points should be re-assigned back to gift/point cards by the end of the week. I understand the anxiety, my son has a £20 Game and a £20 Gamestation card, and it broke my heart to see his face, after spending 40 minutes choosing 1 game,being told that he couldn't get it with his gift card. It is upsetting but I do believe it will all come good, Don't just take my word for it, maybe pop into your local store. Best of luck. xxx

I had a £15 game giftcard which I was not looking to use on anything particular but when I heard of the troubles I thought i best cash in.. I got GOW3 and Oblivion preowned. Both come to £22 and the cashier mentioned I had £2.50 on my Game card. So I came out happy with a couple of bargains. I have a £30 Gamestation voucher I got for Xmas which I was saving for the new Hitman. I didn't even realise that Game owned Gamestation so I never got to spend it, doh! not happy

Logged into my game account and reward points are now showing
Maybe we might get lucky with the gift vouchers (herw's hoping).
Both my children have gift cards to spend in there.

These have been activated again for use from Monday onwards in the stores that are left by the way..

I used a gift card at 12ish today at the Denton store in Manchester. Apparently the staff were informed only 5 minutes before I went in to check that they could start accepting gift cards again.

A massive thank you to Chihuahua7, if it hadnt been for your post yesterday i would have been none of the wiser to game accepting gift vouchers.
I took my children to our local Game store this morning where they both managed to redeem their gift vouchers.
2 happy children and 1 happy mum.

Our local Gamestation was unfortunately one that closed down, according to the sales lady in Game earlier they are hoping to honour gamestation vouchers very soon. (well thats the talk anyway)

The good news is, Both gift and loyalty cards together will be reactivated this weekend, and I assume that MSE will update with any further information after Easter.

I heard about it on BBC R4 Moneybox today.

Hopefully people affected haven't thrown their gift cards etc. in the garbage can and will hear the good news!!!
