MSE News: Game giftcards and points are now void

I'm guessing many people ignored the warning then
Shoppers 'should use ailing Game's gift cards soon'0 -
We bought a second hand DS console from GAME in February and bought extended accidental damage coverage (It was only a tenner and we are clumsy, so it seemed like a reasonable deal at the time). Is the coverage useless now?
Look at the policy, if its underwritten by a 3rd party then troubles at Game are irrelevant.0 -
Hi all,
I feel really bad for those that have lost so much on girtcards ect
I was just wondering if anybody could shed some light on deposits for pre-orders and if these too will be affected now?
We paid £20 to secure a limited edition Starwars 360 sometime last year at Gamestation, We called in to the store last week and they said they would still be getting them in and that they were still taking pre-orders?
Does this still sound likely or should I not hold my breath and just accept that we've probably lost out :huh:0 -
How did people build up large amounts on these cards?
The staff at my local always cashed me out at £2.500 -

I hate to say this, but this is why I do not like gift cards and the like. They can be made void at any time, and you have to spend them with a specific retailer, or set of retailers.
I personally think that buying gift cards is a pretty stupid thing to do, especially in the current economical climate. Next time give your son cash, not worthless vouchers.Total debt Aug 2012: £3800, Nov: £3225, Dec: £3151.45 2013: Jan: £1544.24 :j Feb: £1492.03
Sept 2013: Debt free

Given the farepak disaster a few years back, I am surprised at the number of people who still use gift vouchers.0

Maybe don't say anything yet. There is still half a business there just about, and if someone takes it over they may honour the cards rather than lose those customers forever.
Its not a great chance but there is a glimmer of hope. Sort of.0 -

They can't get any new stock in at the moment, as they don't have any money to pay for it. So you will need to hope someone buys them, they honour existing preorders and they can agree terms with the publishers of the Starwars game to stock it.0
