be careful where you change them as we have had random weeing during chnges which isn't good all over your bed/carpet/ friends sofa..lol
you can buy cheap muslin in fabric shops which we cut up and edged to use as a liner on the mat..they are great, especially as they absorb any accidents, and much easier to wash than bed sheets/ baby's hair/ sofa cushions/ whatever else they choose to wee all over.0 -
Anyone due soon? I'm expecting number 3 on 6th April.
I finally got motivated to get some baby supplies yesterday from Tesco. I was going to buy the 'New baby' nappies from Pampers- the number 1 and 2 size small packs are 2 for £10, until I noticed Tescos own new range of 'new baby' nappies size 1 was £1.79 and a larger bag of size 2 nappies was £4.50 odd - quite a large price difference in comparison and definately worth a try. Considering how many times you change a newborns nappy, it could save a fortune!

My parents had me "Old Style". My dad made my crib and playpen. My cot was second hand and so was my stroller. I wore folded and pinned towelling nappies. I was a small baby and started out in dolls clothes til I was big enough for hand-me-downs. My Grandma was a champion knitter. My parents made my baby food following a cookbook called "Cooking for Baby". I remember playing with a string of colourful buttons fixed (very securely!) to my crib; Probably one of my earliest memories. My brother had the crib, the playpen and the cot when I was done with it.0

My friend recommended tesco nappies to me
i now use tesco nappies i find them much better and much cheaper than pampers or huggies.Mum to 2 beautiful daughters born Oct 05 & Oct 08
It doesn't cost anything to smile!:hello: :starmod: :starmod: :starmod: :starmod::starmod:0 -
i didn't refill my changing bag last week and after having him weighed at the baby clinc i had no nappies left - ooops! i warmed his food in the mothercare baby room and noticed he needed changing so i went to buy some cheap nappies - they only had pampers and it cost £8.99 for a pack of 46 nappies!!
it would have been cheaper to get a taxi to tesco and buy theirs :rotfl:
ethansmum i'm sending you positive vibes for a speedy and painfree labourif you join the boots parenting club they will send vouchers, usually £2 off a pack of huggies newborn (it's only around £3.50 for a small pack) and a voucher to get a free huggies changing bag with mat when you buy the nappies.

LOL! Thanks Jellyhead! I have joined the Boots parenting club- they are great freebies. I was annoyed because I couldn't redeem my goody bag vouchers for Bounty and Mothercare, but this one more than makes up for those.
The Tesco number 1 nappies were £1.79 for 24, whereas the number 2 (and bigger sizes) were £4.50 (something like that) for 46. I know Pampers/huggies allways have those 2 for £10 or 2 for £16 offers but really they are expensive.
I remember when Ethan was a baby (hes 3 now) Asda and Tesco changing rooms had free Nappies, but I suppose some people got greedy and I don't think they do that anymore.July Win: Nokia 58000 -
my tesco usually has some free nappies out but they are very very cheap nappies. okay in an emergency but they are very plastic and i wouldn't use them on my baby because he has eczema and being mummified in a plastic nappy would be bad for him. if i didn't have any nappies with me i suppose i would use one as long as we were going to be getting home soon to use a different nappy. going out without a supply of nappies turned out to be very expensive, don't do it lol! i had one, thought it would be enough but used it after he was weighed because they get weighed naked. if you're using washable nappies and the wrap isn't soiled i suppose you could use anything - even buying a towel or a pack of terry nappies to use inside the wrap would be cheaper than a pack of pampers :rotfl: my baby is 6 months old (7 months now i suppose) and it's the only time i haven't refilled his changing bag. he's been on pureed food for a few weeks now and his nappy habits are changeable so i won't make the mistake of going out with just one nappy again.
when my eldest was a baby i used to shop in sainsburys and they always had a supply of their own nappies. they were very good quality and i switched to using those instead. i think tesco has a range of nappies and it's the white label ones they put out as freebies.
if you ever eat in a supermarket cafe (once a week i have breakfast in asda for £1.50 when the baby has his 20 minute nap) take one of the free baby food jars. by the time my baby reached weaning age i had a stash of jars and they're handy for trying out different flavours or for using when you're out for the day and reheating homemade food would be a pain.52% tight0 -
I BF both my kids, so believe me I was used to explosive poo! I always made sure I had loads of spare nappies and clothes LOL! Lets hope number 3 is a little better
What an excelent idea- I had no idea that you could get free baby food! I will definately be trying that.
So sorry to hear that your little one has eczema- My Sophie has it too- very badly. There is nothing worse that an itchy and sore baby that you just can't sootheJuly Win: Nokia 58000 -
roo's eczema seems to have gone away, it flared up for around a month on his tummy and chest but i'd still be wary of plastic nappies in case it came back around the tummy area.
my stash of free babyfood included organix (foul, he hated it because it contained potato) from being on holiday at haven, hipp from somewhere i don't remember but was mostly heinz tins, they cost 28p on the shelves for the first stage tins. it's through using ready-made baby food i found his favourite food is tomato - i'd never have thought of it.
it's a bit hit and miss what's on the freebie shelf and we're limited to milk-free foods (and he hates potato or apple, lol!) so i take my own stuff for if he will be eating during the shopping trip and doesn't like the heinz they're offering.
the tins/jars have been useful on days out when i'd be wary of keeping homemade food cold enough for several hours then managing to reheat it. and sometimes they're just handy to have around if you're a lazy mare like me52% tight0 -
