This week i have invited several friends /people i have know for sometiem around with kids for some food and drink. I am expecting between 12-15 people.
I emailed most of them last week, but 3 have not replied at all, although i know they must have received my message (they are active on FB).
I need to know by Thursday so i can buy food etc in advance and make plans at home. They have ahad about 6 days since my invite.
Is it rude of me to email them again? how do others deal with those that dont reply to RSVP on an invite?
i was thinking of sending them a message saying "please let me know by tomorrow afternoon if you can make it or not".
thanks

I don't think it is rude to email a reminder. The rudeness is on their part for not responding. Sadly, that seems to be a sign of the times - people won't reply but still turn up expecting you to have catered for them :-(.0

Personally I would leave it and just get a bit of extra food in based on the numbers you already have who have accepted. With a party of that size you may get some no-shows anyway, plus the people who have not replied may come.
Party numbers aren't an exact science...

i do suspect that these people will turn up as one of their best friends is coming, but at least if i knew in advance i could ensure i have sufficient food available. I feel a bit disappointed as even though i dont know these 3 very well (only meet occasionally) would have thought people would at least say reply to say they will tell me later in the week such as a "maybe".0 -
If they don't reply and still turn up, don't feed them. Just say 'Oh, sorry, I didn't realise you were coming' whilst you hand them a glass of tap water

might send them a reminder this morning, any suggestions on what one can say? (would it be rude to say "please let me know by same tomorrow evening if you are coming, and if i dont hear back i presume you are not?)
what do others do? (this is my first home dinner invite for some times not clued up on what is acceptable etiquette).

Just keep it casual. "Hi there, I'm trying to sort out the food for my party and I've not heard back from you yet. Can you let me know by <whenever> whether you're definitely coming or not. Looking forward to seeing you!".
It's implicit that you'll assume they're not coming if you don't hear from them so I wouldn't bother mentioning this. TBH, you still might get someone who doesn't respond and still turns up."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Thanks will send them a reminder.
TBH suprised people dont reply to such invites, i mean theres no excuse with most people having access to FB or just being able to send a simple text or email back!0 -
I would send Fluffnutter's suggestion, but I would add that 'if I receive no response then I assume you will not be joining us'. Only because, whilst it is glaringly obvious that this is the case, there will always be one or two people who will say 'but I didn't realise you'd assume that'.
Winds me up. But I do remember another thread on here a while ago, about invites to children's birthday parties, and the same issue exists there. Some people posted that they sometimes don't respond and the reasons why, but I forget what they were now.February wins: Theatre tickets0
