I have sent an email to the head office of Unbeatable.

The company has been advised of their failing in which they have failed to address your complaint and by not giving the customer service we all come to expect. They have a link to this page and also have been advised of the power of this sight as it has over 18000 members of which are all potential customers with the choice to black list this company.
Rememember. Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

It's not very clear about whether I will be able to claim for example 1. postal costs, 2. telephone costs 3. travel expenses (trying to find a box). 4. "Possible Breaches of Contract" on the part of Unbeatable. 5. Loss of TV for several weeks. etc

I have now received a replacement TV and had at an earlier stage requested £50.00 from unbeatable which I would have accepted as a "Gesture of Goodwill". After all I have been through I would accept nothing less than double this amount with an acknowledgement on their part of wrong doing.

Am I being unreasonable, and is this something which I would be able to achieve via small claims court if necesary, just a little confused.

Thank-you Cos. I have told them about this thread, whether they have read or care about it though is another issue.

They simply haven't made any effort to contact me, although I continue to speak with the MD I simply am left to leave messages on an answer machine.
  • Assuming the company is liable for the incursion of postal costs, telephone costs and travel expenses (trying to find a box), you could start a claim for out-of-pocket expenses through Money Claims Online;

    https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco2/index.jsp

However, you have to decide if the rewards will justify the effort and expense. The CAB may be able to advise further.

The 'Mad About Bargains' website also recommends Unbeatable ... perhaps someone should relay this information to Jeannie, and ask for (1) the recommendation to be withdrawn; or (b) people to be informed about this incident, so they can decide for themselves whether or not to trade with this company.
    If it's cheap, I'm cheerful!

I have still heard nothing from Unbeatable's Gary Parker. This is turning into a total farce, he is the MD I fail to see how he cannot assist a customer whom has had so many difficulties with the company.

I am begining to think I will have no choice but to pursue any claim through the small claims court! This is a process I am not looking forward to, may'be I am in the majority and Mr Parker is playing on that. Eg, bury your head in the sand & the problem "ME" want take further action.

So, there I am plodding around Asda helping the wife to do the shop when my waist begins to buzz..... What a suprise it's Mathew Gauntlett ringing on behalf of Mr Parker.

I had turned to Mr Parker the MD as Mathew Gauntlett has failed to address my complaints, and has infact caused reason for me to complain in the first place. This is the same man whom suggested I purchased a 2nd TV just for the box, no wonder I wanted to speak with the man in charge.......

I will have one final attempt to resolve this amicably, via recorded delivery to the MD. Hopefully this time he will respond personally and make this unhappy customer a little happier :-[

I bet you lot didn't think you were gonna see this thread ever again...... :-/ Well, I have just received the paper work from Domestic & General. This will be the company whom supply the 5 year guaruntee, the one which I paid hundreds of pounds for!! :o Just incase the little light bulbs burn out inside the RPTV.

Reading the small print informs me that the light bulbs are NOT covered under this guaruntee, which I had verbal reasurance from Unbeatable that they would be.

Contacted Unbeatable this morning & was given step 1 in the chain..... Put it in writing, and we will respond!!.

I contacted D&G afterwards, explaining that I had had nothing but trouble from Unbeatable and would prefer to resolve this matter without them. I was informed by D&G that I had been sold a guaruntee for a standard TV, hense the fact it excludes bulbs, but does cover the Tube. They are going to send me out a new gurauntee which is specifically designed for Rear Projection TV's, whilst they didn't stipulate a price I was advised it would most probably cost more.

Can I simply ask D&G to invoice Unbeatable for the difference? I know that if I pay the difference Unbeatable will NOT refund me unless I drag them through the courts.......

No doubt heaps more to follow: But if anyone can tell me what my best options are under the circumstances I would be grateful ;D
