Mind lots of phones have call barring but the Panasonic (many of them anyway) have call blocking -ie if you have caller ID you can block people. With NightMode you can block absolutely everyone other than your favourite category because the phone does not ring. It does light up though with Nightmode (it does light up with blocking -they people just get an engaged tone).

    As mentioned@

Amazon or Argos seem to be the best place (and easy to return if you don't like them).

Just check the userguide for call blocking: http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/Support/Downloads/220239/index.html#anker_220239

And mind if you have 2, 3 or 4 handsets you have to set Nightmode for them individually (I like this a lot actually). Call blocking automatically works on all once the number is blocked.

    3 handsets: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003LPTARA £59.49
    2 handsets: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003LPTAQQ £50.99

I bought my twin handset Panasonic set quite recently from Amazon, under £35 including delivery. I love it, far better than the BT phones I've always gone for in the past.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I bought the Panasonic KX-TG6622EB twin cordless phone set with answer machine from Amazon UK last month for £34.99 post free. Very pleased with it so far.

And yes, if your telephone service includes Caller Display, you can program the Panasonic to block calls from numbers you don't want to hear from. I did that today with a number in Manchester that has been plaguing me with silent calls.

    Thanks everyone:)

Jemma, in the links to Amazon on your post, the model doesn't actually say it has call blocking and night mode, or if it does I cant see it in the description, is this the model you have with these features?

Also would you explain the difference between barring and blocking? as I don't particularly need an answerphone I'm wondering if I could save money on buying a set without it depending on the difference between the barring and blocking, I need to not receive calls or messages from certain numbers including mobiles and also not from withheld/unavailable numbers as I understand it this only seems to be possible with a night mode phone as in previous posts, any advice would be much appreciated:)

Barring is where you bar the phone from making certain types of outgoing calls (eg to premium numbers)

I've just checked the model of my phone & the answer systems that have the call baring/blocking and night mode are KX TG6621E/ 6622E/6623E/6624E. Hope this helps.
