As I currently use Scottish Power online it keeps track of my energy usage so I went through and working out roughly my annual gas/electricity consumption and then worked out what it would cost me to get this from UW and ran it through the likes of USwitch, and for my own personal G&E useage it doesn't work out the best deal for me - this doesn't mean it wouldn't be the case for others, but there's a way to work it out since they aren't part of the comparison sites, that would give you a more accurate idea (but bear in mind that's only based on current energy prices and your estimated useage which may vary!!).
All I will state is that for me, while not being competitive for G&E they are on phone/broadband FOR ME,
As said above, UW gas and electricity are on all of the Comparison websites.
The reason UW reps don't want people using these websites is for gas and electricity UW are usually very close to the bottom. The web sites normally list around 72 or 73 tariffs. For the average UK user(20,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh electricity) the best UW tariff is normally in around 67th position with only 'Green' tariffs and the other 2 UW tariffs below.
Your last sentence is exactly what many of us are saying. UW are just not competitive for gas and electricity - WHICH say they are 20% more expensive than the cheapest tariff and often they are considerably more expensive.
Certainly their phone/broadband package is competitive(albeit many say not the best). However if you want their attractive cashcard, that is the package to go for and save £hundreds by getting your gas and electricity elsewhere.0 -

We know Higgins-Sons doesn't like the exposures of his typical uw rep misleading and false claims.
But why should he carry on all his false and misleading claims aimed at gullibles he wants to sign up without any condemnation from uw or their reps?
Is it really just their way of doing business - avoid the detail, get the gullibles drooling over the savings you tell them about, and don't worry they are all lies!
Here's more from his deceitful website:
Just an outright lie we have seen before from the reps regarding the "guarantee":on Energy Services there is A TRIPLE GUARANTEE to be the Cheapest Supplier.
And for good measure another outright lie about the line rental:You Have £50 Saving on Home phone line rental
And can this be true:You Have The UK's Best Value Mobile Phone Services
These come on top of the lies also advertised, claiming that gullibles will save over £1000 a year when they sign up, and the lies about the 20% to 30% off shopping and petrol gullibles will get if they sign up for the risky prepayment card.
This total disregard for the truth is in line with the uw training videos we have seen, where detail is avoided, and the deceitful sales training, yet keggs, nigewick and co have nothing at all to say about all this deception, and no doubt Higgins will get more advice from uptomyeyeballs about how his website's copyright is being breached by these exposures!
Indeed Higgins has this dire warning to anyone posting comments about his website that "offend" him:We take legal action against any Offender under the Spam legal Law's if you breach this you will be liable to pay a fine of upto £5,000.00 and could face a criminal prison sentence.
Anybody fancy visiting me in the Scrubs?
Oh, and if you still want to meet Russian Girls you can still do so from the same uw page that big family man Higgins has all these misleading claims on.

Be Broadband place a £4.50/mth premium on lack of a 12 month contract so God knows how much they believe an 18 month contract should cost extra per month.....Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
I've probably not scrolled far enough down the comparison sites to find UW then, far as I knew they weren't part of it (same as now all insurance companies are), either way it's an alternative way to check costs by comparing their unit prices
as for phone, i'd stay well clear of talk talk however cheap they are as I don't think i've ever seen or read or head a good word about them, besides as I say i'm holding off on doing anything until upgrades are done on my line and then i'll see what the cheapest option is then - if UW happens to be cheapest for me i might go with them but only cause other half is involved as a distributor so if i have any issues I KNOW it'll get sorted asap, otherwise i'd maybe be a bit more reserved by it.
each to their own though, i'm sure there's as many who are happy as those who aren't0 -

Committed Big 6 customers (in at least one case a committed Big 6 employee who apparently still doesn't declare it on here) arguing the toss in this thread. Maybe the employee should devote more of his energies to helping his employer scrape themselves off the 2nd last placing next time? But probably not...
I assume you were having a go at me? (For those of you not in the know I am employed by British Gas, but can make no financial gain through posting on here. You'll note that Carmine also doesn't declare the financial benefit he gets from recommending UW.)
I don't think I 've taken a role in the Best Buy/top of the survey banter. I did say the nature of any survey is open to abuse, but made no comment on the title it conferred.
If you would like to discuss a supplier other than UW - please start a new thread - I'd be happy to join in.0 -

There is a uw rep who regularly posts here (Nigewick) who has complained elsewhere on the net that even he has had some "atrocious" service from uw cs, so don't be too sure your other half will be able to get you special treatment!
(When posting here, though, the same NigeWick tells us a different story, and claims the uw customer service are "always very helpful" - both his versions can't be true, so let's hope your other half will at least tell you the truth in private!)0 -

But you use Post Office Home Phone and have frequently recommended the service on MSE (not as much as you've recommended Quidco, of course, but that wouldn't be possible!).

If you go with UW Phone/Broadband (Broadcall) you want really be steering clear of Talk Talk as they provide it for UW,as i have already pointed out to you.0
