Of course I haven't, that is why I used the word 'think'!
In the same way as I think that Arthur Scargill winning the BBC 'Man of the Year' was not representative of BBC listener's opinion.
I am simply making the statement that any such survey where vested interests can choose to vote is meaningless.0 -

There's nothing wrong with clubs' membership fees. But is anyone taken in, and think T+PLC is really a "club"?
The uw club fee is just an extra fixed charge on their customers, which is regularly "forgotten" by their reps whenever they come here to quote prices, and a "clever" way they have of making their price guarantee seem better than it is.
(They "guarantee" to compete with the big 6 energy suppliers tariffs, then list a number of areas excluded from this guarantee - including the monthly membership fee)0 -
I asked a valid question as to is this card any good? Will it have a benefit? Is it a waste of time? Ive only read about this today and cannot make my mind up if it is for me?
Interesting to see that uw reps have to ask these questions in this forum.
Don't they have a training department to explain the benefits of carrying the card for their reps to regurgitate?
Hopefully you have come across some of the pitfalls in this thread!0 -

If you don't like the card or any of our services then don't apply, it's quite simple, then you won't have to keep attacking people who see a benefit - allow people to form their own opinion.
I AM A DISTRIBUTOR
I have only posted on the discredited(IMO) survey and have not commented on the card. So I fail to see why you have quoted me and then made such a comment.
However are not opinions formed by people hearing both sides of an argument?
I can appreciate that the UW reps might dislike Quentin's stance on UW, but I have yet to see the accuracy of his comments challenged; from what I can see he researches carefully.
IMO he is doing a great job in pointing out to potential(and indeed existing customers) the realities of UW price structures and sales tactics. I think MSE readers owe him a debt of gratitude.
I hope he will not be intimidated; fortunately he shows no signs of that!!0 -

Innocent until proven guilty in this country, plushchris, I'm sure you know this, though.
Anyway, any of you people think the cashbackcard is a rubbish idea? With the exception of one poster who would frankly find fault with UW if Bill Gates bought the company and started giving away the gas and electric, all the other 'detractors' in this thread seem very silent on this one. I know the board's Hugh Jeego for one seems entirely incapable of backtracking once he's set his stall out on something....Come on, give it your very best shot, the silence at the moment is deafening (and rather pathetic, tbh). You'll save an extra 5% on everything you buy, both in store and online from participating retailers, including: Sainsbury's (on food and fuel*), Argos, Boots, Burton, Comet, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Goldsmiths, Halfords, Homebase, House of Fraser, JJB Sports (in-store only), Marriott Hotels, Miss Selfridge, Mothercare, Outfit, Principles, River Island, TGI Fridays, Thorntons, Topshop, Topman, Virgin Experience, Wallis, Warehouse...
*To receive 5% CashBack on fuel at Sainsbury's, you must have spent at least £50 in a single transaction online or instore in the previous 14 days.

As far as the card is concerned it does indeed appear to be a good deal, however, appearances can be quite deceptive.
Most people are aware how Tescos monitor peoples spending via their clubcard and tailor their mailshots according to what you have (and havent) bought.
I'd have thought it would be quite easy for UW to monitor almost every aspect of your spending, gas, electric, telephone, broadband, beans, petrol, condoms and whatever else you buy will all be available to them.
They *could* then sell that information for a pretty penny to marketing companies.
I cant imagine them doing all that out of the goodness of their hearts, there must be something in it for them.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

Thanks, plushchris, at least you are man enough to concede that this DOES seem like a good deal, albeit with certain *assumed* potential disadvantages. TBH, I'm not really expecting anyone else to concede it has promise/appears to be a good deal as the rest of the detractors on here are the type to just ignore points they can't debunk (The Board's Hugh Jeego is a past master at such behaviour  )
PS Can anyone confirm the qualifying criteria for getting this card? How many services do you have to take, for instance? TIA!Call me Carmine....
