Having looked at UK Power's site the company (as Quentin quite rightly points out) states that the site receives a fee for any referral made to an advertiser.

Again you mislead us. The site clearly states about where the money comes from:
This is paid by the new supplier

(No mention of them doing deals with "advertisers"!)

UK Power is one of the top energy comparison sites recommended to us by MSE Martin. It compares energy companies prices for your individual consumption. It does not run advertisements for energy companies. If you decide to go with a particular company, then if that company pays them, you can link straight to the company to apply. They will share the commission with us if we use the MSE link to reach UK Power. If that company doesn't pay them, there is no direct link.

Saying this payment comes from a uw rep, not uw itself doesn't alter the involvement of uw in paying for customers - which you told us they never do! All it does (if true its a rep behind this) is show how they think they can get round their two faced moral ethical stance.

Maybe you have heard of Energylinx (another top site recommended by Martin). They also get paid by uw (and again share that payment if you sign up via their site).

They do include the companies that don't pay them as well (eg. Ebico)

Hopefully this nails the uw so called "ethical" position once and for all. Shame their reps have to find out what's going on from this forum rather than direct from uw themselves!

My last comment once and for all. Quentin, you simply can't resist attacking anyone for what is said. You really haven't a clue what you are talking about even if you try to pretend that you do. You might fool some of the people all of the time but you won't fool everybody. Some of us here can see through even if you have mesmerised others with you so called 'expert' knowledge.

Don't bother replying - it might just strangle your vocal chords or give you a hear attack and I wouldn't wish either on anyone.

What is your objective in simply posting abusive comments without attempting to add to the discussion?

I pointed out that it's not just the one switching site which seemingly is paid by uw for new customers by giving you another well known site getting commission from uw (and sharing it with us as cashback) in answer to your ethical claim about uw:
UW will not pay anyone for anything that it doesn't feel will be of benefit to either the company or its customers. That includes comparison sites.

It was you who brought up this topic to show us the "credibility" of your organisation, and it is a measure of your credibility (shown up many times in this thread) that when this claim turns out to be another misleading one you can now only respond with abuse.

Regarding your credibility, you told us to save further embarrassment to yourself and your company you would not post again, now (3 posts after that pledge) you are still posting, though now only outright personal abuse.

Thanks to all the replies to my query on the Charities board.
My concern was about community groups being asked to sign up their members for this service which would benefit not their groups, but the main agent (which is a social enterprise). I think that has been answered.

Not only does the uw agent (who never does anything at all for the money) get paid commission on the charity members who sign up (throughout the time the charity member remains a member of uw), but charities have to pay £25 to join the scheme (for the "privilege" of acting as a salesman for uw and getting their members to sign up to the uw club!)

Well, Mum hasn't yet but she reckons it won't be long. What I actually meant was that some people will naturally swap when they think they see a better deal.

This thread seems to be getting a bit heated.

Things started getting very strange around 2000/2001 when this cult like behaviour, as previously described, started to take hold. How can you have room fulls of people getting whipped up in to a frenzy of excitement over reselling gas/electric and phones. Very strange. You would think they were on a mission to change the world and to cleanse the souls of the non believers. Not for me thanks.

    .....

Welcome to the forum - great first post, especially the quote.

If you are now getting £10 a month for initially delivering 2,000 customers, how does a distributor get a Mini?
  • Its a bit of a shame that Keggs isn't going to be posting on here again as it would have been interesting to read the response from RichOneday's posts. It makes you wonder whether some of the UW distributors will begin questioning their loyalty to the cause when they see how they are being rewarded.

It makes you wonder what the UW board thinks of the UW distributors - I'd love to be a fly on the wall in one of their board meetings.

Thanks for the posts anyway Quentin and RichOneday - good work...
  • Do different criteria apply to different distributors, then? I genuinely don't know, btw, not trying to be 'confrontational'

    A snippet from the article:

"Following a champagne lunch at the new St Pancras International 90 meter long Champagne Bar, I headed straight to north London where my BMW Mini convertible with full personalized insignia awaited me."

I assume UW weren't promoting drinking and driving...

My God, I hope so too. According to this thread they already appear to be responsible for most things that's wrong with this sceptred isle.
