Anyway, back to the topic in hand. Got my letter this morning to say our G&E goes live on 31/7/09 and asking for the meter readings etc. Good advice contained in this paragraph:
Although we read your meter twice a year, we strongly suggest that you take regular meter readings and pass these to us - this will allow you to take control of your energy useage and avoid estimated readings appearing on your bill. Research amongst our customers has shown that by reading your meter you naturally become more aware of how much energy you are using. This, together with advice our energy efficiency line will give you, can assist in helping you reduce your energy consumption.

    Good, helpful advice.

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??
  • Hi Folks

I know some anti-UW folks like to use the info posted for UW ID's on our 'private' forum as a tool with which to discredit our company and people, and was wondering whether they would be sharing the information posted there this morning about a customer/ID who has benefitted from a 'negative bill' this month...? Or does that not suit the overall goal?

I have it on good authority that over 100 people received a zero or negative bill this month because of the Cashback Card. Be interested to see the reaction to this from TAUWF...surely this represents good VFM?

I am an ID with the UWDC.

Yes, the cash back card is a simply brilliant initiative. No idea why the Big 6 won't launch one. Too lazy? We've only had our card since 17/7 and have already amassed £36 UW bill credit on it (although I'm not sure whether the whole lot will be included on the first bill as we have stuff being delivered and i'm suspecting the cashback only shows in the account after the card has been debited, and i think I read that the cut off point is the end of each month?).

I'm really testing this company out (bit naughty really, I suppose). Emailed CS after close of play on Friday....and got an answer to my query 9.30 am Monday. Fantastic.

I am finding they seem to be about a month behind with crediting your bill from the card. In June I bought over £50 of items in Sainsbugs and then diesel a couple of days later. When I checked my card spending on line, I noticed that the fuel cash back was not credited and whinged. The reply pointed out that the original £60ish had not come through from Sainsbury and they could not get it sorted until Sainsbugs caught up. Makes sense to me, and, it now shows the credit.

It wasn't me who joined and slagged off Quentin. I prefer to stick the knife in the front so I can see the face's reaction. I tend to just ignore his posts now as a result of his previous behaviour.

Thanks for that, NigeWick. We'll see what happens but some petrol transactions I did last week showed up on my statement but not the cash back amount. Couple of days later they were showing so all's good.

I can see why the retailers are keen to align themselves with initiatives like the UW card as I'm sure I'm not the only one who will now check out those suppliers first when i wish to buy a certain item. Whilst I accept that, generally speaking, places like Comet and Argos, although market leading High Street retailers, can often be beaten by online retailers, if you take your time there are usually some bargains to be had. My wife wanted a digital camera so I checked out Argos and Comet. Funnily enough, Comet were selling the model her friend has, a Samsung L301 (pink :o ) at supposedly half price (£99). Don't think for one minute it is half price, of course, but I went for it largely because they had a promotion on at the time (still on until 31/7 I think) whereby buying certain products gave you 10% off your next order. Knowing that we would be buying a laptop for my son for when he starts Uni in September, we thought this was a good deal.

£3.47 topcashback credit and £4.95 off our UW bill, free delivery and more importantly the unique 10% discount code delivered by email. Yesterday I clicked and collected son's laptop (we deliberately haven't gone big budget on account of the fact he's rather forgetful about where he's left stuff ) so ordered the emachines (they are Acer in disguise, btw) laptop for an already bargainous £280. Less 10% discount (so price we paid was £252), less £8.82 topcashback credit and £12.60 discount off UW bill. Unbeatable deal.

Our Dyson is giving up the ghost so noticed on the Bargain Forum that Argos are selling a DC14 All Floors for an apparently bargainous £189.95. From my research the only place selling it cheaper was the online co-op shop at £183 (Amazon are £193). Big advantage with buying it at Argos was the fact that they are giving £50 Argos credit on any Dyson you purchase over £160.
So, £190 outlay, £50 credit to spend on owt at Argos before 22/9 and £9.50 off the UW bill.

To be fair we would probably have gone for these anyway whether we were with UW or not as they are great deals and paid on the debit card. Instead we paid on the UW card and 'gained' a total of £27 off our UW bill. A no-brainer.:D

I assume that Carmine is implying that it was a 'double bluff' i.e. an anti UW person posting in that fashion(possibly even Quentin himself?) to discredit UW distributors.

However could it have been a triple bluff etc etc;)

:D I like it. My head is starting to hurt. I'm sure we will never know who it was although I'm entirely sure it was someone who has been here before. suspect.gif

PS I've no idea why I feel compelled to state this but on the life of my family it wasn't me. I'm many things (not all of them positive by any means) but cowardice has never been my thing.

PPS I really don't think Quentin would have time after 'pushing' Quidco all over the forum, lol. (j/k)

  • I've saved enough money by not being a customer of UW to disappear off on holiday for a few weeks. ;)

first stop The Burj in Dubai (only 2 nights though), then around the far east HK, China (Guilin & Hainan), Vietnam, Taiwan and a weekend in the casinos of Macao before heading back via HK.

Have fun folks, I'm sure you'll miss my irreverent humour. :rotfl:
