NatWest & RBS why different options

Options
I am not able to get anything other than a basic account with Natwest but today I went into RBS and could get Basic + Select Silver + Royalities Gold (not sure if Select was offered) and was told that these accounts are credit scored. Is it due to paying for them that they are more willing to offer them?

and they'll end up with AVU who will probably decline after you sign and return forms, they're good at that

Nope I applied online last night and needed to just show my passport as they couldn't verify me online. Ended up having to do application again in branch as they couldn't find my application, got offered the ones mentioned after credit check so they said. Just signed a form, took copy of passport and was given sort code and account number. No forms to return.

Well as someone as already said your application may still be subject to further checks by AVU (Application Verification Unit) then depending on there findings may subsequently lead to a decline.

i do hope not, surely they would have done the checked before offering me the account and giving me a sort code & account number
  • Natwest and RBS are different companies.
    RBS is Natwest's Parent Company.

They have separate policies, and separate scoring systems and so on.

I applied for an account with RBS, and it was accepted, opened, up and running with money in it, and when no card arrived was told that it was declined and closed.

So just because they've told you its fine, until the fat lady sings its not for sure.:D
