I think the OP feels bad enough about the situation as it is, w/o any of us adding angles to it based on conjecture.

It is VERY TRUE, if you are a good employer who values the employee you would not "suspend" anyone, you would not take the chance of them taking offence and walking out to work for one of your competitors.

If you do suspend someone you are obviously not bothered if they walk or you would not take the chance, it is an absolute last resort and only one you should ever use on someone you need to dismiss and it then serves to cover your back legally.
Otherwise used, it will soon leave you with no staff as others will see the abuse of authority of a fellow worker and moral will drop very quickly through the workforce.
A very last resort and also a very clear message that it is time to move on to somewhere that values you.

Regardless of how good the employer is certain alleged behaviour has to lead to suspension. What else can they do, ignore the allegation!

Actually used correctly it raise moral as they know that all are treated equally and that allegations are investigated.

Not sure if anyone's already mentioned it but I would be wary of composing any sort of apology before you have been officially informed on the reasons for your suspension. You may end up adding fuel to whatever fire is being built. Whoever is feeding you the information is not helping you although they may think so. Some one else will advise but I have in my mind that if you are suspended it should be on full pay, surely they cannot suspend you and expect your annual leave to serve as your suspension. I never see any point in trying to resign during a disciplinery to try secure a good reference, I suspect it rarely works. To me it just shrieks I'm guilty of something.

Not just because you touched her, but you also commented 'Do you want a feel?' which can have sexual overtones as well. Taken together with touching, it's pretty offensive.
It's not looking particularly good for you, no, on the other hand you may not be sacked but given a warning.
