  • What a tallented young girl you have! Don't worry about this at all. It all takes time to get things into perspective and be able to draw things as you see them. Just be happy she can draw so well and let her artistic flair develop! MY 4 year old DD insists on drawing people with no bodies. We all have arms and legs coming out of our heads! She'lll get there in the end!
  • oooo i know about this, i was tested alot as a child because of doing this too. It is perfectly fine, she is useing the both sides of her brain or something along those lines - she should grow up to be a lovely intelligent little thing! Dont be alarmed - i just wish i still had contact with my family in order to get the full story for you!

In time her drawings will turn the right way up! I used to draw everything upside down but perfectly - when asked why apparently it looked perfectly fine to me!

I think i have heard of another theory but dont know whether its the reason it but certainly makes sense - basically our brain turns pictures the right way round but actually things are the opposite to how we see. Sounds crazy but its true - I will have a look see if i can find anything to support this for you!

Im not saying im deffinately correct but this was my experience!

    What an interesting story!

The eyes see images upside down and the brain switches them for us, so we see things the right way up.

    More explanation here.

I wouldn't worry about it - not many things that 3-year-olds do make sense :rotfl:

My DS is 3.5 and I wish his drawings were nice and detailed - most of the time they're just scribbles. (Then again, I'm not exactly artistic either :o)
  • When we were young my little brother used to draw upside down because he used to try to copy what I was doing sitting opposite me. So everything I was drawing seemed upside down from his point of view, so he just copied.

that sounds very similar to my daughter she copies her five yr old sister and the drawings are super! but she is sitting next to her and not opposite her or else i would have thought thats what was happening!

I am left handed and I used to that and write back to front:D

The teachers in Spain insisted I wrote and drew with the right hand and my mother went mad that it is nothing and she should not be made to write with the right if that is not the natural way....left to it I grew out of it but still have some lovely upside down pictures that my mother kept:D
