UKPC - Problems

Hi Guys,

Got a problem and I thought I'd see if anyone can help me -

Got a ticket from UKPC or UK Parking Control Ltd in Crawley Leisure park - ignored it, got a letter saying I owe them £90 now so I paid it, then then duplicated the exact same parking fine and sent it me again. I rang then and they cancelled it.

Then I got another one ignored it, they then sent me a fine for £90 and I paid it. I then also got another duplicate of this fine today and I have to ring them between 2pm - 4.30pm so they can ring throught to head office and get them to cancel this 2nd duplication.
Apparently the lady in customer serivce said their's another 4 tickets in the pipline for my vechicle..

Since paying the second one I has found this forum and seen the many posts about this company and private parking tickets in general.

The problem I have is the car in question is a leased vechicle through Lombard and they are the registered keepers. Everytime UKPC send them a letter then send it onto me and charge me an £15 + VAT admin charge

Now if I ignore UKPC and they send me 7 odd letters then Lombard will charge me £15 a pop resulting in me paying out £100+ in admin costs...

Any solutions?

Also whenever I contact customer serivce for UKPC on 08701740074 I get told they they do not have any information and all they do is push for payment. I'd like to find out is anyone has any specific contacts or telehpone number for head office or complaints or anything else for them?

Becasue they have sent me two duplication parking notices am I within my rights to get them to pay me back the £30 in admin costs I have incurred because of their mistakes?

Any help on all this would be much appreicated....

Dig out the terms and conditions of the lease and post the EXACT wording here relating to parking tickets and their admin charge. I strongly suspect this might only apply to PCNs and FPNs (or fines in relation to contraventions of applicable legislation relating to parking - or similar) issued by a relevant authority.

This is important. These tickets from UKPC are actually invoices in relation to breach of a private contract to which Lombards are not a party so are not liable, and which - under contract law - you are not liable to pay either.

You need to point out to Lombards that these tickets are unenforceable rubbish which they should not be charging you an admin fee for. We need to know the exact wording of the lease agreement though.

I agree. Forget UKPC. It is the leasing company you need to be dealing with. You need to make it plain that these are not fines or charges recoverable against the registered keeper, and are therefore not covered by the T & Cs of your agreement. It needs to be made plain that not only will you not pay the "charge" but neither will you pay any "admin charge" which they try to tack on as it is not in your contract. I would suspect they already know that, but collecting £15 a shot is too tempting for them to pass up...

Yep, you MUST make sure the Lease company stop treating these fake PCNs like real ones. Dig out your lease t&cs which might well only allow them to do this with 'fines and penalties' (which these are not) from 'an authority' (which a PPC is not).

Read this thread and use the BVRLA link I gave to MacBudman who is in your shoes:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3748269

The BVRLA are the trade body for leasing companies and if you look at the link to the BVRLA private parking template letters you will see that the industry as a whole are told by their own trade body (if they bother to ask) that they are not responsible for fake PCNs like this.

So go (politely) on the offensive and ask why your leasing co are out of step with the BVRLA view. You can sue UKPC for the multiples of £15 you get charged I would say - because they are targeting a lease company in the full knowledge that the recipient of the letters, being a company, cannot possibly be the driver.

P.S. Can't believe you paid £180 to these scammers!

Hi Sorry for hijacking your post because I am not sure how to post new threads!

I got a parking notice charge from UKPC today for the reason 'leaving site'. I was observed to have left the site at a specific hour and the notice charge was issued about half an hour later. I was back about 2 hours later (max free parking is up to 3 hours) and then purchased something from the shop so strictly speaking I am a customer to the retailers. I am not sure if they even photographed me walking away from the site or not!

So should I just ignore the charge and many subsequent letters and threats that will follow? I have read many messages and advices on this forum and seems like it will be fine to simply ignore them.

I just want to be sure!

Yes you can be sure it's fine to ignore this fake PCN. Watch the Watchdog clip that you will find in the top sticky thread called 'PPC letters & threats' - just one click away to see the whole forum index. See my signature for where to click to get off this thread & back to the forum overview.

And when you do click and find the whole forum index (see my sig!!) you will also notice a nice blue button, top left of the thread list, 'New Thread'.

JUST IN CASE, keep hold of the receipt for what you bought; but 99.9999% says that if you ignore the clowns they will give up their attempt to scam you. Buy yourself a ticket for tomorrows lottery; it will have far more chance of winning the jackpot than you will have of getting any court claim from UKPC.

This "leaving site" is total bull anyway. Never seen it upheld by any court.

However, don't appeal and don't contact them. Not only will they not know who was driving, but it will cost them more money to send you the toilet paper letter chain as they will have to pay DVLA for the keeper details..

Thanks Coupon-mad, saw the nice blue button. :)

Thanks for confirming that it will all be fine. I actually went to purchase the goods soon after I notice the PCN, in order to support my argument as a customer parking in "customer car park". Now I might just refund these goods tomorrow.

You could make the point by going in the shop if it's an automatic refund store, and saying that you will not be buying from anyone that employs a cowboy in the car park, if that happened enough they might wonder whether they really need to have some parasite losing them customers.

I was charged £100 before at the very same car park for being 2 min over the parking time limit. At that time I was ignorant and didn't research into whether the charge is legal so has paid for it. But not anymore!!!
