XP, Vista, window 7 are operating systems
factory restore/reinstalling windows will wipe all your data, backup to external media first.

from another laptop it will just pretty much clone the os/number etc from that one.
Have you tried giving it admin rights when you install a program?
(I'm not sure from posts if you can actually download, or if it's just installing that's the issue, if it is just installing...)
Download avast for example, on the downloaded file, right button click the mouse, and select properties. On the dialogue that comes up, click "compatibility" and then select "Run this program as an Administrator", okay all that, and then double click the file to try and install.
Before you shred the system, just try that. If not virus is a possibility.0 -
Do a Factory Restore, there should a disk image on the hidden partition to restore from-this will take it back to 'as new' condition.
All the instructions you need for this will be on the manual and as per the link in post 12.
This is very much easier than reinstalling W7, for which you will need a W7 DVD and all the various drivers as well.
And next time make sure that you create a Recovery CD 'out of the box' as the system prompts you to do.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

hi never got disks or manuals when i bought as was a refurbished laptop, probably the biggest mistake, but was all i could afford.
still not letting me do a back upi came into the world with nothing, and guess what? i still have it!!!:p0 -
You don't need any disks to do an FR, it's on the hidden partition.
The manual should be available on the manufacturer's support site-but post 12 already gave you all the necessary info to do the restore. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Can you start it in safe mode and start running the Avast and/or Malwarebytes scans in there?
I know it's not recommended but it might be a start.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -
