Hi, Is there an error message coming up when you try to install/unistall? Or is it just not responding? Also , is the user account you are using set up as an administrator?

sorry, just a few more questions,

Has it ever been able to install programs? have you tried roling back to a time that it worked? And what browser are you using?

  • using interenet explorer and yes was able to download programes when first got it,dont know how to roll back to a time when it worked as when it came back from dixons there were more problems with it.

ie back button does not work now,so have to repeatedly have to go back to websites i am using instead of just pressing back.

tbh am sick of my laptop as just cant get anything to work argh, worse thing i did was buying this!

have you had an infection, which operating system?

    reinstalling windows would cure it.

XP, Vista, window 7 are operating systems

factory restore/reinstalling windows will wipe all your data, backup to external media first.

I have come across these symptoms before and it was indeed a virus. IIRC it had changed the association of exe (and other program) files at registry level which obviously causes havoc with the system. I can't recall how I fixed it but I do remember it was a massive pain to rectify as it respawned itself on every boot.

If there is no important data on there then a complete wipe and reinstall of Windows would sort it out and do it the world of good. Don't forget to do all the windows updates and install MS Security Essentials or other anti-virus as soon as you have Windows reinstalled.
  • how do i clear it all and how do i reinstall windows.

easy to see i have no idea what to do,hence hoping someone can give me an easy route on this
