Popped into Waitrose on the way back from Edinburgh this evening. Got everything I needed and a few things I didn't (croissants which are definitely not essential, but delicious warmed through for breakfast  and some almond cookies).
Spent £27.26 which I will duly add to my signature.0 -
Does anyone have any ideas what i can substitute white wine with in a recipe??
I dont want to have to buy a bottle just for 3 tablespoons worth, and i cant stand white wine as a drink!
If it helps, its to go in Garlic and prawn Linguine.
I always freeze in ice cube trays or bags, same as I do for pizza sauce. Which reminds me, I have a bottle that either needs drinking or freezing...Cheapskate wrote: »As the kids are on holiday from school now, I was hoping to bake but my main oven is broken now, so can only use the little non-fan one with one shelf! Will have to do with making a load of SC meals to eat/freeze to use up bendy veg.
I only ever use my small oven, in fact I did the Christmas dinner in there for five people!! It's so much cheaper to run than heating up the big one, and then I get an extra 'cupboard' for storing all my baking tins etc!Hello all, I'm coming back to GC after a slide back into bad habits which has left me right up against my overdraft limit and not able to pay all my cc off each month (something I vowed would never happen again).
Soooo.... from now on, back to the grindstone and super frugality! My pay comes mid month, so I'm going to go from 15th to 15th of each month.
I hope to spend less than that really but I'm not the world's best at sticking to budget so trying to be more realistic.
Me too. I paid off all my debts after ex left me, and vowed I would never accrue debt again. Now I have a cc balance of nearly £2000, it's so easily done. Well done for doing something about it, and also for being realistic. The main reason that people may not do as well as they would like is that they set unrealistic targets, so having realistic targets is setting yourself up for success. Welcome back!
My shopping list for this week is as follows, although will prob grow before I shop:
cat food
cheese
milk (need after Friday)
bread (ditto)
yoghurts
generic lemsip
Haven't actually made a meal plan for this week, as it's just me, so i'm living out of the cupboards until the children get home on Friday evening. I shall do a proper plan for next week over the next couple of days though, and prob add a few things to the list. If I don't add too much, I'll get some cookie crisp cereal, as it's ds's fave.
Night all,

Had a spend of £2.85 to add to sig. We had ham/cheese slice with HM chilli wedges, roasted mushrooms and tomatoes for dinner tonight. Not HM slice - Mr F fetched this home - couldn't waste it.
I roasted the tomatoes and mushrooms - which were getting past it - in a mix of balsamic vinegar and olive oil with a little added sugar - yummy.
Tomorrow will be quiche again - freezer is full! We are nearly out of potatoes but got plenty of veggies.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Been MIA for a little while. Happily came in under budget for March and would like to aim for £260 again for this month. I will leave it at that for this post as I can see I have a lot of catching up to do!
Kind regards to all.

Morning all!
Thanks for all the tips about the white wine for my recipe. I didnt know you could freeze white wine, so i think i'll get one of the tiny bottles, that are normally about 1 glass worth, and then freeze what i dont use.
This 'anti SM' crusade that i'm on the moment is doing wonders for my diet as well as my bank balance! It feels great to be losing lbs whilst not wasting £'s!!
Hope everyone has a great day!0 -

Need to do a freezer dive in a minute to take out something for dinner. OH said he fancied something chicken wise tonight, so do I get out the whole chicken which is at the top of the chest freezer and easy to find but which would be nice bbq'd over a can of cider at a later date or do I hunt around more for the packets of thighs / drumsticks that are in there somewhere:o I'm having to fight the urge to go to the SM just for a ys hunt:pI was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly
