Feels like ages scence i have been on, but i have updated my spends to include last nights shopping
I cant belive how much less i have spent on our shopping this month .... its fantastic
We have had a few trips away (work) so meals have been paid for, but i still am amazed at how little i have spent
I have found a few new shopping musts: b&m have the large jamie oliver tomatoe and chilli pasta sauces 79p and the large lloyd grossman chilli for 59p - theres enough to only use half a jar and spread it over 2 meals but i like the whole jarand they both taste YUMMMY but the chilli is pretty spicey
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who runs this thread and all the tips mentioned as you have really helped us look at our spending and save a bomb :T:T:T

He has a wonderful black eye!
Bruised his shoulder/grazed his knee/scratched the lens of his glasses. He did do what I always tell him - if you fall over - DON'T let go of the dog!
Mr F always has been clumsy - right from a child - he is 60 now. Good job he is no longer 27 stone - now 14 stone - less to hit the ground - but not so much padding!

Hi
Bit behind but I need to update...
Amazingly I'm still in budget - today I bought a jar of korma, a bag of rice (looks like curry for tea) and a bottle of grapefruit squash for £3.22 bringing my total to £391.71/£400.
This gives me £1.65 per day for the next 5 days - I can try but the weekend will get me!August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -

Florenceem wrote: »Look delicious. Are the apple pies made on enamel plates? Did you cook the apples first for the pies? I used to be always making apple pies - made a tasty cheap pudding for when I was feeding + 10 a day. Apples free from the garden.
They are just on dinner plates
No need for fancy plates although I wouldn't mind a couple of tin plates.
I never precook my fruit in pies and crumbles. It's just not cos I'm lazy but I find that they don't need it.
I sliced the Bramleys quite thinly and layered them in with generous sprinkles of sugar before the crust goes on.
A nice eggy wash on the top with another sprinkling of sugar makes the pastry top nice, crisp n sweet.
Easy method but it works so well for me.
Just pulled the meat n tatty pies out but will upload pics later as I am off out now to take the pie to my folks whilst it's hot.
See you later:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

I don't precook fruit in crumbles - just did in pies. I had some enamel pie plates - from a camping shop - were really cheap. I have seen enamel pie plates in a £ shop when I stayed with a friend in Chatham. I gave a lot of my cooking stuff to 5 children when they went off to University plus set up in first flat/house. Now they can afford Le Creuset/Denby. I did treat myself to the Denby utensils in the outlet shop recently. Had to think about it - shall I? Then I thought - why not? I have the money - may as well enjoy it. STKI. :rotfl:Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
