Don't worry he never likes to let facts get in the way of his argument:p

"In Europe, PayPal is registered as a bank in Luxembourg under the legal name PayPal (Europe) Sàrl et Cie SCA, a company regulated centrally by the Luxembourg bank authority, the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF)[64] (note that all of the company's European accounts were transferred to PayPal's bank in Luxembourg on July 2, 2007.[65]) Prior to this move, PayPal had been registered in the UK as PayPal (Europe) Ltd, an entity which was licensed as an Electronic Money Issuer with the UK's Financial Services Authority (FSA) from 2004. This ceased in 2007, when the company moved to Luxembourg.[66][67] It is therefore not possible for UK customers to obtain legal redress from the company in the English, Scottish, or Northern Irish Courts."

"eBay are to change their VAT status in Europe with the establishment of a new company located in Luxembourg, called eBay Europe, S.Ã r.l. From March 1st all European eBayers will have their contracts moved from eBay International AG in Bern, Switzerland to eBay Europe, S.Ã r.l."

  • Ebay and Paypal offshored to avoid UK legislation and taxation.
    Before or after they offshored?

When did London become classed as offshore?

Is this the 5 minute argument or the full half hour? You spout the same nonsense about Ebay and Paypal not being accountable in the UK because they moved 'offshore', despite others telling you they have offices in the UK and on another thread that the FSA intervened recently on another case. Lots of international companies have different offices in different countries that doesn't mean they aren't accountable in a country they trade in.

Putting "HTH" at the end of a post does not make anything contained in the post any more accurate.

With regards to your "argument", what exactly is the quote above meant to show?
Any claim, dispute or matter arising under or in connection with this Agreement shall be governed and construed in all respects by the laws of England and Wales. You and eBay both agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts. In simple terms, “non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts” means that if you were able to bring a claim arising from or in connection with this Agreement against us in Court, an acceptable court would be a court located in England, but you may also elect to bring a claim in the court of another country instead. English law will apply in all cases.

And has already been shown (unless of course you think that Companies house have incorrect information), ebay have a registered office in the UK along with a company director, so your claim that ebay moved offshore to avoid UK legislation is absolute rubbish.

Now that verifiable facts have been posted, will you be man enough to admit that your claim was wrong?

It does if it stands for "Hello, Troll Here".

Why pretend that Ebay/Paypal didn't offshore to Luxembourg when everyone knows that they did??

And how do you suppose the FSA could regulate a company based in Luxembourg?

By being the way you are people might assume you work for Ebay?

You're a very funny man, you only have two arguments and never let any facts get in the way of them. I admire your tenacity to your cause, well done.

I've had it a few times, anyone who doesn't think Ebay and Paypal are consorting with the devil is undoubtedly an employee (HTH). They must be a good company to work for, there aren't many companies whose workforce would defend them.

As I obviously work for Ebay and/or Paypal (HTH!) I'm only pleased I manage to have such a good use of English, what with them not having any offices in the UK (HTH).

I always think the 'you work for eBay' is a bit like a game. Sort of the online equivalent of Mornington Crescent and used by the loser in any otherwise rational argument when it is obvious they have backed themselves into a corner and have started talking rubbish.
