Sounds good Wen - hopefully it's resolved it.
Is that simply after running combofix and resetting the hosts file, or did you have to run IE with no add-ons?0 -
Hi there,
I have the same problem wen has/had, I noticed a week or so ago my computer was slow, looking around I found the history list had lots of random numbers etc. Just as wen says its the same here.
Have you guys managed to sort the issue out? Ive read throught the entire thread but its a little hard for me to understand as im not computer savvy.
Any help will be really appricated as a slow computer is annoying.
Cheers,
Derek.0 -

Waddler - everything seems all ok now we had the internet on yesterday with no problems - the only thing I have noticed when we close the internet explorer window and re-open later that days history has disappeared? not that that really matters but just wondered if it was linked to anything I had done.
Also now the problem seems fixed would it be ok to uninstall all the programs I recently added from this thread or is it best to keep them on for now just incase?
Derek thanks to Waddler and all his help ours seems fine now we have had it on for 2 days and no sites have been visited and the fastlah link doesn't appear so I'm sure he will be able to help you too if you follow his advice - its all quite easy im not the most technical person in the world but managed it ok.
Thanks

Wen,
In Internet explorer, go to tools > Internet options > General tab
Under Browsing history is "delete browsing history on exit" checked? if so, uncheck it.
You can uninstall combofix if you're happy everything is running correctly.
Open a Run command box. (Start > Run or Windows key + R on your keyboard) and copy/paste this command in:
ComboFix /uninstall
Note the space between ComboFix and /uninstall , it needs to be there.
Click OK
let combofix uninstall itself.
TFC, DDS, aswMBR, aswmbr.txt, DDS.txt, attach.txt can be deleted simply by right clicking and deleting them.0 -
Thank you so much for all your help with this! its so nice to know there are people out there who are willing to help!

sorry just when you thought I was gone..... we have one other small problem not sure if its linked but now on websites not all the images or log in icons are displayed they are either shown in a box with a small red x in the top left corner or you have to hover over where you know the log in button is and it will eventually show up or let you click there? any ideas?
Thanks
Wen0
