Pages in History not been visited??

I have noticed in my history that websites keep appearing which I have not visited they can vary from factmonster.com to oneindia.com. I have cleared my history for today and just gone back in and at the top its has open.fastlah.com at the top if I try and open the web page it tells me it cannot find it and if I click underneath to expand it brings up a list of thumbnails with ?10015 ?20140 etc
Has anyone else had this before? I have run both malware and avg scans and nothing comes up but yesterday we did have a threat Trojan horse downlaoder.generic12.blby which is now in the virus vault.
Any help would be greatful - should I log off an put into safe mode - if someone could remind me how to do this that would be great!
Many Thanks

Hello Wen. Sounds like spyware to me. If you are using MS Windows I suggest you download a tool called Spybot (its free software). I can't post links but a Google search for Spybot will get you what you need. Download, install and run all updates. Then disconnect your computer from the internet and restart in Safe Mode. Then go into Spybot and run a full scan. This could take some time (maybe a couple of hours to complete). When its finished you will see a list of all the problems found. Press the Fix Now button and it should clear all the problems. Reboot into Windows.
Run Windows Update , update your Anti-Virus software and run a scan.
Let me know how you get on. BTW I've done this from memory so the actual steps may vary a little but thats the general process.
If spyware is found, I suggest you change all your online passwords, esp online banking, credit cards logins etc
Cheers0 -
many thanks for the advise - will do as you say and run the spy bot and let you know what the results are - probably in the morning as im off out now so will just shut the computer down.
Thanks0 -
yay done all of the above steps and so far so good re-opened the internet and it doesn't appear to be opening any more websites!
Many Thanks for your advice0 -
You'd be well advised to d/l Malwarebytes (free version) as well. After you install it update it & the run a scan. Remember to update & run scans for both once a week thereafter0

After thinking everything was solved we are still having the same problems we have a policy with virgin digital help and they have scanned the computer twice and still can't find or get rid of it
their next suggestion is to back up data and uninstall then reinstall everything as long as we have all the disks for drivers but I'm not sure if we do and don't want to start this process incase we haven't. Also whatever this thing is its using up our broadband useagd as we usually only use 5.5 a month and already we are at 10+. When we run scans malware and spy bot nothing shows as a threat or anything. Any more suggestions would be great. Thanks

Download DDS from the link below and save it to your desktop:
Link
After you've downloaded it and saved it to your desktop:- Double click DDS to run it.
- When it's finished, DDS will open two logs:
- DDS.txt
- Attach.txt
Copy & paste the contents of just DDS.txt for now and post it here (you may need to split the log over separate posts)0 -
thank you, this is such a helpful site right this is what has come back from the dds:-
