Today I have received a parking charge notice from ParkingEye, stating that payment of £** to be made by **th month 2012 or £** if paid by *th month 2012.

They say I spent *hour ** minutes in the car park on *th month and time allowed in car park is 1 hour 30 minutes.

This is how it goes, I entered the Car park at **.** (they have picture to prove) entered the shop and bought a pack of 6 apples, then got in the car and left by the same exit I had entered. I then went to the Co-op and parked on their car park. I left the co-op car park and went to my mums for approx 5 minutes and then mother in laws for approx 30 minutes. On leaving the mother in laws, I then went to drop my daughter off back at her home. On my journey back I cut through the car park, that I had first called on at **.** but using a different entrance and the camera caught me leaving at **.** (they have picture).

Looking at this, the camera caught me entering the car park, but not leaving approx 5 - 10 minutes later, but then captured me leaving the car park after I had entered via a different entrance to cut through on my way home from dropping my daughter off.

So in fact I didnt spend 1 hour and ** minutes in the car park.

There is no notices saying there is no thorough fare through the car park, and over the last 5 years or so I have cut through the car park to avoid the town centre traffic on my way home.

What should I do?

Cheers in advance.

What you do is ignore this bunch of chancers. You don't owe them a penny. For further reassurance please read the other threads on here that deal with private parking tickets.

Yup, just ignore them and check the letter chain thread to see what comes next - Then ignore it.

And don't be bothered by any photos they may have - Means nothing at all in this context. :)

I'm not too sure about using a car park as short cut, but I can think of worse crimes. Like being a binge drinking, pasty eating pensioner.

Anyway, when the PPC has kindly sent you all the evidence you need in the form of a series of ever more threatening letters, you can sue both them and ASDA for harrassment.

That way, your bag of apples could "cost" you -£1998.74. Now that's what I call MSE!

Thanks for the replies and pointing me in the right direction. I will not pay the fine, and will wait to see if court proceedings follow.

Also suing Asda wouln't be right, as it was actually Aldi lol

But thanks anyway for the advice

Oops! I did read the original post, honest. I don't know where I got ASDA from. I hereby offer them my personal and unreserved apology. I also choose not to amend my post to cover up my error. I wouldn't want to be like a certain someone else.

Do not ignore a private parking ticket - from 2013 onwards things changed in England/Wales. If yours is Parking Eye then they are suing people and so are some other PPCs.

You must appeal and with current forum advice, you will win at popla - we win 100% of appeals in 2014.

Please click to page one of the forum, get off this old thread. See my signature below for where to click to read current advice. Please read the NEWBIES thread at the top of this very forum.

Did I say STOP reading this ancient thread, NOW??!!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The only "court proceedings" which might follow are those you may choose to take against P.E. and Aldi. If you want to go down that route (and I second Stephen on that) then in fact it is better procedure to write and state that you did not do what they said you did and their charge is therefore completely unwarranted.

This might well have the effect of them dropping the matter; but either way you are a winner.

However edit your post to remove times, dates, and any other info which could lead to identification of yourself and/or the specific ticket.

The old Parking Pie "first in last out" ticketing 'error', they will probably cite a "no return within X hours" rule if you challenge it.
