You need to re-read the thread. That isn't what I said. Thought it was clear enough but perhaps not for some...
It was a comparison to other decent airlines. Take a look at reviews of Aeroflop and if you think it is still a good airline, post back.
Going from London to Rome to Moscow to Tokyo on a naff airline isn't my idea of fun.0 -

Be careful or you will get the PM I got from the former Pilot/First class traveller...

So on the record I would just like to apologise for having an opinion on a airline that I have actually flown with, through cities I have actually been to and for backing up what I have said with proof and statistics - Not just what I read on SkyTrax. Sorry Equaliser - Ill take myself outside and spank my own bottom - You awesome former pilot you0 -

Yes I do drive. Oh, and I was a pilot in the Royal Air Force for some years so my understanding of air safety is actually rather high.
In any event, air travel isn't just about safety. It's about service and experience. Aeroflot provides negatives in both respects.
So if you consider taking a massively indirect flight with a poor airline to be worth saving a couple of hundred quid, then great.
I don't. But then I tend to fly Emirates Business or First when heading in that direction.
Whatever happened to "be nice to Money-savers"?
There can be no doubt that Business or First on Emirates is a more pleasant way to travel than Economy on Aeroflot. However, those of us who need to make long journeys at low cost are grateful that the less comfortable option is available. Sneers from the wealthy are not exactly helpful!
The question of safety is important, of course. Let us remember that all airlines wishing to fly into Europe provide information on their maintenance and other operating procedures, and a great many airlines around the world are banned from flying within EU airspace because they don't pass this inspection. The fact that Aeroflot does serve members of the EU demonstrates that it meets standards of safety and competence that other airlines fail. I have to say, I would prefer to rely on the professionals in Brussels rather than someone who used to mess about with military aircraft.0 -

Again, best to read the thread.
I've said that Aeroflot have a dire rating and that the route is one which is incredibly indirect.
My experience as former RAF aircrew has been called into doubt. I have been sneered at. A private mail has been published after I called for some restraint.
Suggest you check who needs to be "nice" to moneysavers.
Up to you if you want to fly on a second rate airline. I wouldn't.0 -

Any idea how immature you sound?0 -
I'm very MSE in most areas, but will not compromise on the quality of a flight, esp long haul. I wouldn't entertain the hassle of flying to Rome, then Moscow before Tokyo.
As with everything, it's personal choice.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

So are we done with the "My airline is better than yours" "I fly a better class than you" posturing and if so is there any possibility of expanding this discussion into something more interesting like the fare breaks that can be found for long haul travel using open jaw flying out from a European city and back into a UK one in general ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

And you still believe Aeroflot is a safe airline?

Must be a shortage of de-icer in Russia! They now fly Airbus iirc and all the safety issues were from bygone eras of dodgy Russian Planes.
The recent videos quite clearly suggest that the safety culture of Aeroflot seems inadequate. They may have modern equipment, but if there are organisational safety failings, then unfortunately, that organisation will be found out - eventually - irrespective of technological advances.0 -
