Mini Windscreen Replacement - Help!
Comments

Having worked on supply chain for vehicle repairs it is not just the company selling the part or the insurer that says that there are 3 classes of parts.Christopher7 wrote: »Says the company selling the part or the insurer trying to get a customer to accept it.0 -
yep, I'm pretty sure there are...
"Manufacturer" so it comes from triplex with mini box & logo
"Original Equipment Manufacturer" so it comes from triplex but without the mini box & logo
"Pattern parts" which might also come from triplex or could come from some dodgy factory in China.
OP.......either of the first two will be fine, pattern parts is less sure but have you checked if fitting a non branded screen is going to affect the vehicle warranty?0 -
I'm a bit late replying but have had a similar experience, last year.
I opted to go with whatever Autoglass installed and was lucky as they couldn't get a generic heated screen in stock in time for their repair visit, so they obtained and installed a Mini heated screen.
One month later they replaced it as the screen was faulty. It was replaced with a generic screen and I haven't had any problems to date.0 -
The windscreen is a structural part of the vehicle. Only allow non OE screens to be fitted if you are satisfied that the screen is as strong and that the vehicle glazing company are competent in installing screens for your particular make and model of vehicle.0

With the number of vehicle recalls in recent years the dodgy chinese factory sending out copies may well be stronger than the one the manufacturer is using
