Virgin Capping my speeds - Raging!

I have the L broadand package, TV and telephone
After 2 months of hell with my broadband speeds a customer care guy has finally admitted that my speed is being "managed"
If I download 3gb between the hours of 10am - 3pm they reduce my speed by 75% for 5 hours
If I download 1.5gb between the hours of 4pm - 9pm they reduce my speed by 75% for 5 hours
My speed last night was 0.5mb
Unlimited broadband!?
What a joke, fuming, cancelling first thing in the morning
Been with them since the beginning of NTL
If anyone is having problems with their speed you now know why

Been like that for ages.
If you need to download large amounts make sure you do it outside of restricted hours.
Or upgrade to a package with higher/no limits.0 -
Why sign up for a heavily traffic-managed tariff and then complain when they do exactly that?No free lunch, and no free laptop0
-
They should have sent you revised terms notifications over the years, each time they've made changes that revise what you originally agreed. If you haven't refuted these notifications (i.e. by leaving) then within 30 days of each notification you are deemed to have accepted the revised terms.
Sorry - nothing you can do other than leave, choose a different tariff or accept the status quo.0 -
or upgrade to a better package, cheapskate!0

i've been with them since the days of NTL - i didnt sign up for this tariff
I bet you didn't sign up for 10mb either - it will have been a free upgrade? Any complaints there?
Seriously, some perspective is needed. There has been traffic management on your tariff for many many years.0 -
IIRC they had provisions for "heavy users" back when I signed up for NTL in about 2000....
And traffic management has been in place for about 5 years or more now.
As has been said, at the same time they've introduced traffic management (and even from memory sent out letters about it, let alone emails), they've upped the speeds from 128k (from memory) for the lowest speed, and 512k for the top speed, to 10mb and 50mb (I signed up for 512k, and had free upgrades to 20mb, which would now be 30mb).0 -
We've been XXL for 2 yrs and I think it's certainly worth the money for 50Mb.0
