As I am developing a serious beauty box addiction... I I ordered an italian beauty box (My beauty box - italia). I knew I would go to Italy this summer and I researched their beauty boxes. I was surprised to see that actually glossybox and another brand stopped (sugarbox) offering beauty boxes in Italy. (do you think that beauty boxes will die out in uk as well??) The only one I could find was "my beauty box". Unfortunately it is not shipped in uk, I could get it only because I have friends in Italy and I used their delivery address.

I will write a review of what I received but in short:
    • The beauty box contained a book, but in this case the whole book instead of only one chapter (see birchbox)! All 350 pages there!
    • Using a code, I received NUXE products worth £30 in the same box! wow!! In my understanding each month they post codes in the facebook page that you can use to get extras if you have a monthly subscription. (I am not sure if that would work for a 6 or 12 month subscription) I think this is a great idea to keep people in touch with your facebook page.
    • As it was my first box I received also an extra sample AND a special discount code for a 6 month subscription!
    • 5 products (2 full size, 3 deluxe samples) worth £32

The box costs £11.20 including P&P. UK beauty boxes should do some market research!

Just as a side note they may have stopped shipping to Italy as the post there is dreadful, quite a bit of it is stolen so many companies refuse to post there. I lived just across the border in France and many of my Italian friends couldn't get the big British companies to send anything to Italy!

I totally understand what you say and I see the point! But there used to be a glossybox italy that no longer exists. I assume the boxes were shipped from Italy to Italy, not from UK, as we don't get the USA boxes in UK. I don't know if the problem was the post (I can imagine they had too many complaints even if glossybox was shipping from italy) or drop in sales, or... or... or...!

They also had issues from Italy to Italy, it was quite a long running saga when I lived there (if you tried to order anything from Italy it would have a long list of places it didn't deliver to which were mainly war torn destinations then it would say "Italy" which always amused me. i'd be surprised if there was no demand there, the Italians love their cosmetics.

I've just got an email about some new themed Memeboxes - Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Rapunzel! http://us.memebox.com/value-sets/snow-white-sleeping-beauty-rapunzel?acc=43baa6762fa81bb43b39c62553b2970d#.U_eW3cV5NTQ
I'm very tempted to get all 3 and save on postage! But may have to settle on just one... Hmmm!

This is what I found in the HMRC webpage

    http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/customs/post/internet.htm

"If you order or purchase goods other than alcohol, tobacco, perfume and toilet water from a country outside the EU then you have to pay:
    • Customs Duty on goods with a value that exceeds £135
    • import VAT on goods with a value that exceeds £15
Note that on all goods from outside the EU, Customs Duty is waived if the amount of duty calculated

So they will only collect if the vat due Is more than £9- I guess under that would cost more than they collect to process.

Had my Birchbox turn up today - think I prefer last month's on the whole, if only because I'm such a fan of the Laqa & Co. Lip Lube and feel to already have a load of similar products to this lot.

When the customs duty is less than £9, not the import VAT! At least this is what I understand, that you calculate/pay seperately the VAT and customs duty.
